Student Portal• The Student Portal provides students and parents with online access to

scores from the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS), including TAKS-Modified (but not including TAKS-Alt) and the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) assessments.

Specific Features of the Student Portal:• Viewing student assessment results over the course of a student’s

academic career.• Comparing individual student TAKS assessment results to campus,

district, and state averages.• Examining student performance on TAKS, including individual student

scale scores and objective scores.• Examining TELPAS examinee proficiency ratings, comprehension

scores, and composite score/rating.

A brochure about the student portal is available on the district common. Accountability/Portal – Parent and Student

Page 8: Exit Retest TAKS Training October 2012 {Coordinator Name} {Campus} Humble ISD.

Cell Phones• The use of cell phones or other two-way

communication devices is prohibited during testing for students and test administrators.

• The district cell phone policy must read prior to testing.

• The reason is that cell phones can….– disrupt the testing environment,– be used to cheat by obtaining unauthorized assistance

on test content by students, and can– be used to image secure tests and compromise the

confidentiality of the test with their camera feature by students and teachers.

(Accommodated).

– Follow the same steps to grid the TEST TAKEN INFO field even if the student is absent from the test or illness/test irregularity occurs during testing.

Should be evaluated regularly to determine effectiveness and to help plan for accommodations the student will need each year

Maybe appropriate for classroom use, but not allowed on state assessment

Routinely and effectively used Individualized for each student

Are not changes to the content being assessed and should not replace the teaching of subject-specific knowledge and skills as outlined in the TEKS

Should not be provided to an entire group of students, such as those in the same class or disability

Are not necessary for every student Should not be provided to a student

Page 37: Exit Retest TAKS Training October 2012 {Coordinator Name} {Campus} Humble ISD.

Accommodations Manual

• Contains information about accommodations for TAKS, TAKS (Accommodated).

Page 38: Exit Retest TAKS Training October 2012 {Coordinator Name} {Campus} Humble ISD.

ROUTINELY USED

Accommodations should be routinely used during classroom instruction, assignments, and testing. This doesn’t mean that the accommodation must be used everyday.

By analyzing observation data and assignment/test scores with and without the use of accommodations, an educator may be able to see how the student has gained skills, overcome weaknesses, or progressed in the curriculum. Or it may confirm that the student still struggles in certain areas.

Do not provide a new or unfamiliar accommodation on statewide testing day.

Page 39: Exit Retest TAKS Training October 2012 {Coordinator Name} {Campus} Humble ISD.

Special Ed & 504 Testing• The current accommodations tracking tool will be

completed by the campus ARD facilitator and emailed to the campus testing coordinator prior to testing.

• Testing plans will be based upon the accommodations specified in the tracking tool, including Impact.
