That fuels us with fear and force,A dignity that trusts the form a day takes. So at the end of this day, we give thanks

Bereavement Ministers “I like to let some water flow under the bridge before I take time to honestly compliment someone(s) on their work - ministry - perfor-mance or the JOB well done. The THANK YOU that came after the funeral was sincere... The time element is just to emphasize how much I appreci-ate your assistance. Your care. Your attention to the little things that lead to beauty and prayerful-ness are emblematic of last Sunday's Gospel. A small seed. A little bit of yeast. An extra effort in the harvest all contributes and lead to deeper prayer and simpler beauty…Please keep up the great work and keep enjoying what you do - it makes a big difference.”

Course description: Paul remains a dominant voice in the New Testament. His ardent love for the Crucified Christ, his deep and abiding roots in Judaism, his apostolic sufferings on behalf of the gospel, his dynamic sense of mission, and his vision of an inclusive and compassionate church—all of these are fundamental motifs of this remarkable follower of Jesus and a foundation of the Church’s life and mission today. This course will study the life of Paul within the context of Juda-ism and the Early Church and consider his major letters.

Home school for Religious Ed? Really?
I got it! If we home school for religious education we’ll…
Have more quality family time Give the kids with special needs
one-on-one attention Eliminate scheduling conflicts Provide more stability in the
midst of the craziness!
$200.00 per family per year + $15.00 per child per year Then the $50.00 (non-refundable) due at registration . . .
“Honey? Is this a sacrament year?”
“Yes, for two of them.:
+ sacrament fees . . .
Expectations of Parents who choose to home school for religious education
1. All families who have kids in Faith Classes are asked to attend Mass weekly, included those who chose home-school for religious education
2. Families who home-school for religious education will be asked use catechistical materials provided by the parish, submit completed work online at regular intervals and meet every six weeks with one of the Faith or Teen Faith staff.
3. Parent-catechists are expected to participate in catechist preparation (at least two In-Service opportunities that the parish provides).
4. Families who home school their children for religious education are asked to participate in the parish-based sacramental preparation programs. In the case of Confirmation, home schooled students will be asked to take part in community service opportunities, attend the FLAME 1 & 2 Retreats, and attend one of the PIZZA WITH THE PASTOR sessions.
We do now.
Anything else we should know?
Did you know that nothing and no one can replace the influence of the example of a parent on the spiritual life of a child?
And they both think we should all go to Faith Classes - including you Dad !

We pay $10.00 an hour
We are open every Sunday morning from 8:30 am- 12:30 pm. We also open for other parish events when needed and when nursery staff is available. We use a rotating schedule.
All training, including Virtus, is provided right here at Holy Family.
You can start immediately. If you want to come and see what happens in the nursery before saying yes just let us know.
We are looking for men or women 18 and older.
Do you know of any college kids living at home that might like to earn some extra cash?
o This would be great experience for anyone thinking of getting certified for careers in the early childhood field
Any parents or seniors interested?
For more information or to schedule an interview contact Marta Robak at 847-907-3447 or [email protected] [email protected]
There is lots of interest in our new & improved (and much less expensive) Adam’s Apple Program for this year. If you haven’t registered your kids do so ASAP. We have spots in both our kindergarten and 3 & 4 year old pre-K classes at both 9 and 11 am.
It’s going to be awesome. We are going to have so much fun learning about God and His love for us through music, stories, arts and crafts, snacks and games all tied to the Sunday gospel. Each week you will get you own kid-friendly bulletin (the older kids are going to be so jealous of you).
Hey kids! Do you want to know the secret priests know about how to make Mass less BORING?
Think about it do priests ever look bored to you?
The secret is they do a lot of fun stuff during the Mass so they don’t have time to get bored. So start doing fun stuff at Mass yourself – don’t let them have all the fun. Be a greeter – this is great if you’re really
outgoing and like to talk to people Become a Table & Light Minister (grades
3-8) You get to do all kinds of cool things and they give you special seats!
Participate in Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLW) – during the 9 or 11 am Masses – you know the adults always wonder what happens in CLW because you all come back smiling.
Join the Children’s Choir – sing once a month at the 9 am Mass, rehearsals are twice a month 6-6:45 pm and you get snacks – don’t tell the adult choir that ‘cause they don’t get snacks at their rehearsals.
Get your Mom or Dad to partner up with you to collect the money during Mass –Fr. Terry would love that because people find your cuteness irresistible and give more.
We need catechists
for Adam’s Apple and grades 1-6
So kids talk to all the fun adults you know and tell them you want them to teach. The more fun the catechists are the more fun Faith classes will be. Once you get them to agree have them

Family & Teen Faith
Adam’s Apple Tuition for 2017-18 slashed
thanks to 2017 Gala Funds
make a quality religious education accessible and affordable to families with young children
build on the success of the Kid Church program, developed by Fr. Terry and a group of parents
create bridges to both HFCA and Family Faith programs.
Last year in order to better dovetail with the Kid Church ministry, Family Faith moved to a lectionary-based curriculum which focused on the Sunday readings. This year Family Faith Staff members are being trained in the methods of the dynamic Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) developed on the educational principles of Maria Montessori.
CGS is rooted in the Scripture and the Liturgy of the Church. Children gather in an "atrium," a room prepared for them, which contains simple yet beautiful interactive materials. You may be wondering how these materials help the religious life of children? If an adult hears a beautiful passage from the Bible, the adult might take a Bible, find the passage, and read it slowly again and again. But a little child, too young to read, needs another way. Imagine children using a flannel board on which they can place the characters of the scripture story in an interactive story-telling exercise, or setting sculpted apostles around a Last Supper table, or preparing a small altar with the furnishings used for the Eucharist.
We are encouraging both our HFCA and Faith families to take advantage of this program. Not only is it an engaging outreach to young children, it allows their parents and older siblings to attend the 9 or 11 am Mass as well as Kid Church. We will work with those families who participate in Kid Church with classes that meet when on the weekends Kid Church does not. As part of the Adam’s Apple curriculum each child will receive a weekly four page color handout on the readings for that Sunday from Pflaum Gospel Weeklies. The children will receive this resource for the Sundays Adam’s Apple does not meet as well, allowing parents to work with their children at home.
If this approach sounds interesting to you or you have additional questions contact Laura Ferlita at 847-907-3436, [email protected]. To register your child for Adam’s Apple call Marta Robak at 847-907-3447 or go to https://holyfamilyparish.org/family-and-teen-faith-registration.
If this sounds like a program you would like to be a catechist or catechist aid for contact [email protected]. All training and materials will be provided. Tuition for this program is waived for parents who are willing to be catechists.
Family Faith’s Adam’s Apple program for Pre-K and K meets on Sundays during the 9am and 11am Masses from September-May. Children begin to learn about God through music, story, art and Godly Play.
This dramatic decrease was part of Fr. Terry Keehan’s and Dr. Peg Hanrahan’s wish to experience
Holy Family has reduced the yearly tuition for this program from $300.00 per child to $50.00 per child/$75.00 per family, for 2017-18.

HFCA is Grounded in Faith Our faith is integrated into everything we do at HFCA. The greatest witness is when
our studentsÕ faith is moved to action such as: ¥ A first grade student contributed his birthday
money to help our Lenten project in Cuba. ¥ Preschool students requested book
donations in lieu of birthday presents. ¥ Our middle school students showered their
teacher with prayers and support as she goes through cancer treatment.
¥ Nationally Recognized 7th grader, Natalie McHone placed third in the Catholic Campaign for Human DevelopmentÕs nationwide Multimedia Youth Contest.
2017-2018 Goals While we are so grateful for the past, we are excited as we look forward to the future! We will be focusing on: ¥ Welcoming over 100
new students! ¥Celebrating the 15th Anniversary of the founding of our parish school. ¥Completing our IB Candidacy ¥Applying for STEM accreditation for our middle schoolÑthe first Illinois middle school to apply for this designation from
AdvancEd. ¥ Creating a Makerspace equipped with tools
and materials that allow students to tinker, create, invent and build.
¥ Continuing work on our Strategic Plan. We have been blessed in so many ways by the dedication and commitment of our parish, faculty, staff, students and parents.
