from our administrator fr. William Hubbard

Dear Parishioners and Friends of Our Lady of Fatima,/Queridos parroquianos y amigos de Nuestra Señora de Fátima,

If you are a faithful reader of this column, you know that I have been trying to put out lots of information about For Christ Forever, the first capital campaign for the Diocese of Orange. In addition, some of you have already attended a reception to get even more information and ask questions and some of you are planning to attend an upcoming reception. Some of you even attended a tour of the Christ Cathedral campus with me yesterday morning. If you couldn’t make that tour, we will have another one on April 5.

For Christ Forever is a great campaign and I highly suggest that you support it. It is our opportunity to respond to impor-tant needs in our diocese and do some exciting planning for its future. However, for the majority of Lent, I am going to put our For Christ Forever updates in this space on a hold. As I have said before, there is so much going on in our parish and I want to try and keep you up to speed on as much of it as I can.

One of my favorite pieces of parish life is the RCIA program. This is the program that helps adults receive Sacraments or convert to become Catholic. On Friday night, I was with our catechumens (people preparing for baptism on Easter) and they were all presented to Bishop Kevin Vann, along with catechumens from all over the diocese. Please continue to pray for them and for all of our children and adults preparing for Sacraments in the season of Easter.

SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY: CHRIST CATHEDRAL TOURPlease join Fr. William and fellow parishioners on April 5 for a tour of Christ Cathedral campus in Garden Grove. The tours will begin promptly at 10am and last approximately one hour. This is a great opportunity to see the advantages of the property that Bishop Brown acquired and how it will change Catholic life in our diocese.

LENT INFORMATIONStations of the Cross / Estaciones de la CruzEVERY FRIDAY AT 7PM BEGINNING MARCH 7

TODOS LOS VIERNES A LAS 7PM COMENZANDO EL 7 DE MARZO

Lenten regulations / Las regulaciones para la cuaresma

◆ Everyone 14 years of age and older is bound to abstain from meat on all Fridays of Lent.

◆ Everyone who is at least 18 years of age and not yet 60 is bound also to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.

◆ On the two days of fasting only one full meal is allowed. Two other meals may be taken, but together they should not equal another full meal. Meat is not allowed. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids are allowed.

◆ Where health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige.

In order to deepen our love of Christ, Catholics are encour-aged to: participate at daily Mass, pray more fervently, give generously to religious and charitable work, do some act of penance and self-denial, especially regarding alcoholic drink and social entertainment.

Make a Difference in Our Children’s LivesCatechists and assistants are needed for our Liturgy of the Word for Children (LWC) program. This is an opportunity for our kids in K through 4th grade to encounter God’s word in a way meant just for them. It takes place during our 9am Sunday Mass, but only with the support of the parish community. Our kindergarten class is in particular need for adults and teen volunteers. If you have special place in your heart for kids and God’s Word, you are invited to explore this. If you are interested please contact Rosa Rama at 492-4101 x119 or [email protected].

CRS Rice Bowl Program Has Begun! Our parish is participating in CRS Rice Bowl, Catholic Relief Services’ Lenten program, as a way to encounter Jesus through others, especially through the most vulnerable in our world. Rice Bowls were handed out last week. Please be sure to take home a Rice Bowl if you haven’t already and use this fun and easy resource to deepen your family’s Lenten experi-ence and make a difference in the lives of the poor.

This week, CRS Rice Bowl invites us to enter into solidarity with the people of Kenya, and encourages us to reflect on the Catholic social teaching principle, Sacredness and Dignity of the Human Person and remember that our inherent dignity comes from our creation as children of God and not from any of our own actions.

Get the CRS Rice Bowl App to receive daily reflections, watch the videos, get meatless recipes, and track your Lenten sacrifices. Free for iPhone and Android. Search for CRS Rice Bowl in your app store or visit crsricebowl.org for more information.
