Record Books are one of the most beneficial experiences you can have in 4-H! What is a record book you
ask? This is the place where a 4-Her records his or hers’ 4-H experience for the past year.
Record Books teach record keeping skills, writing and computer skills, planning and goal setting.
Much of the information in them is beneficial when applying for scholarships, awards, positions and more.
The Due Date for recordbooks this year Monday, JUNE 19th, the same day as awards applications and ambas-
sador applications!
County recordbook judging will be Friday, June 23 at the Comal County Extension Office at 9am. If you would
like to be a judge, please let me know...it is a GREAT way to learn! Also District judging will be July 13th at
the Helotes 4-H Center in Bexar County. We need volunteers for both, so please let me know if you are
interested!

the fall. THAT MEANS
COUNTY 4-H ROUNDUP
WILL BE IN LATE OCTO-
BER. I know this is VERY
different than we are use to,
but it does mean that we
will not have to be writing
speeches right after stock
shows are over.
Spring Roundup will
be April 19-21, 2018 back in
Fredericksburg. The reason-
ing for the contests taking
place in that area is due to
the size of District 10, and it
being centrally located for
our counties. The schedule
is:
Thursday, Apr. 19
Morning: Soil Judging, Grass
ID, Range Evaluation, Wool
& Mohair
1:30pm, Leaders 4 Life
Friday, Apr. 20
9am, Duds to Dazzle
Last year, District
10 went to a new contest
format. Spring and Fall
Roundup is now here to stay,
but the District has tried to
rearrange a few contests for
the 2017-2018 4-H year to
try and make things a little
easier for some people.
Fall roundup 2017
will be held December 8-9, in
Kerrville, Texas. The Con-
tests are as follows:
Friday, December 8
8:15am, Food Challenge
1:30pm, Food Show and En-
tomology Contest
Sat., December 9
9am, ALL Quiz Bowls
1:30pm Educational Presenta-
tions, and Public Speaking.
Yes, that means the educa-
tional presentation contest
will join public speaking in

12:45pm, Fashion Show
3:00pm, Share the Fun
Saturday, Apr. 21
7:30am Livestock Judging in
Fredericksburg
8am, Rifle Contest in Wilson
County
You can see that
Leaders 4 Life will move
back to the spring contests,
and Share the Fun will stay
in the Spring. There is also
nothing else after Livestock
Judging, so people can get
home earlier.
