And we do 2 things with them: we let them sit and fester in our brain; or they pass in through the eyes and out through the mouth as we talk about this judgment with somebody else. I ’ve heard it said that “we don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are”. How true. If I’m healthy and happy and holy, I tend to see things in a whole different light. Then, too, if I spend all my time judging others, I don’t have to fix what needs fixing in my own life. Lent sticks up a mirror in front of us. Fix yourself first. The tempter will keep throwing in those judgment calls, Satan is pretty relentless. If they come today, a good way to counteract the judgment is to say 2 prayers: one for the person you want to judge, and one for yourself, that God may give you the strength and courage to look in the mirror and mend your own broken vessel. “At the end of life, we shall all be judged by charity.” – St. John of the Cross St. Vincent de Paul Society is grounded on the belief that we shall all be judged by God on how much we see and serve Him in our neighbors. Thus, we work tirelessly to offer support and care for those in need in our community. Sometimes we meet people with complicated situations, and we listen, pray, and help them overcome
difficult obstacles. Hence, enabling them to end the cycle of poverty for themselves and their families. Recently our volunteers visited and assisted a client, who lost her job. The client was having a hard time applying for a job. We referred her to a short program with Atlanta Center for Self Sufficiency (ACSS) for St. Vincent de Paul neighbors in need. The ACSS program is a 3 week intensive job transformational course, covering topics like time management, stress management, skill set development, interview and resume preparation. After candidates have completed the program, ACSS would host a job fair for the graduates. Additionally, we paid the client’s utilities bills, as well as referred her to the St. Vincent de Paul main office for fresh food and benefit screening. In February, through your generous contribution of $6211, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul was able to assist 17 families including 18 children providing in $943 in temporary lodging, $903 for utility and $5402 in rent. Thank you for your generosity and May God continue to bless you abundantly. Amen! The Ministry is reaching out for men and women who strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to our brothers and sisters in Christ. FEEL THE WARMTH Sometimes it takes more than a parka or a blanket to keep another person warm. Sometimes it takes the presence of a caring Christian friend. Stephen Ministers share the warmth of God’s love with those who need it most: the lonely, the depressed, the grieving. Is God calling you to reach out to those who are hurting? MISSIONARIES OF THE POOR FOOD DRIVE - LENT 2018 UPDATE
We’ve collected 1330 pounds of food for the past 4 weekends! Thank you for your generosity.

The Mssionaries of the Poor are dedicated to "Joyful Service with Christ on the Cross" by serving the poorest of the poor. They desperately need basic food items to feed over 500 people in Jamai-ca on a daily basis. This year, peanut butter and boxes of spaghetti only (no other types of pasta, please!) Place your peanut butter and spaghetti in the hallway leading to the school. COLECTA DE COMIDA DE LOS MISIONEROS DE LOS POBRES - CUARESMA 2018 Los Misioneros de los Pobres se dedican al "Servicio alegre con Cristo en la Cruz" sirviendo a los más pobres entre los pobres. JOURNEY OF A CELTIC HEART

Carmel comes to us from the heart of Ireland’s Boyne Valley and her ministry is inspired by the sacred landscape and spirituality of her home. Attendees will
experience a contemporary expression of the Celtic spirit through contemplative song, story, and ritual. We will metaphorically walk the pilgrim journey of a Celtic Heart in the
company of the Trinity, the angels, and the Irish saints, St. Brigid and St. Patrick, while always with Christ as our intimate companion.

UPCOMING EVENTS
The next AARP DRIVER SAFETY COURSE will be offered on Tuesday, April 24th from 9am-3pm. Participants pay at the door and must bring lunch. Cost is $15 for AARP members (bring card) and $20 for non-members. Why take the course? The AARP Driver Safety course teaches valuable defensive driving techniques and provides a refresher about the rules of the road. Plus, by completing the classroom course you could qualify for an automobile insurance discount from your insurance company. Pre-registration is required and participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Register by calling the parish office at 770-939-3501.

THE WAY FOR WOMEN RETREAT The Way for Women is a 3-day retreat for adult female survivors of abuse offered by the Archdiocese of Atlanta’s Victim Assistance Program April 6-8, 2018 at Carmel Retreat Center in Hoschton, GA.
