There is a certain urgency in today’s Gospel as Jesus calls
His first disciples—Andrew and Simon, James and John. Each
one follows Jesus immediately, unhesitatingly, abandoning
nets and boats and father and fellow-workers. To what is Jesus calling me—at this
moment, in these circumstances? What will I need to abandon in order to follow
Him?
Marriage Corner
“Guide me in your truth and teach me.” (Ps 25:5) While learning about the other
person is generally associated with the dating period, continuing to ask and learn
about your spouse is an essential part of marriage. Ask questions. Tell stories.
Keep learning about your beloved.
Our father, Lou Richert, who was a parishioner at St. Cecilia for 58
years, died on January 4. He formed many, many dear friendships
during this time. We would like to thank all his St. Cecilia friends
for the kindnesses they showed him over the years. We would like
to express our special thanks to those who helped him so much in
2012 when he was so sick. Another special thanks to those who
visited him in the hospital during his final two weeks.
Lou’s children—Judy, Bob and Tom
Congratulations!

I am Nancy Fink, an associate teacher in kindergarten. My husband
Craig and I have been married for 23 years. We have 5 children, 3 of
which are still at home. We have had at least one child enrolled at
St. Cecilia continuously since 2004. We are really looking forward to
having a wing of the school named after us when we are done paying
tuition in 2022!
I grew up in Mapleton, a one stoplight town, in western Iowa. I
graduated from Iowa State with a degree in Early Childhood
Education. In my free time I love to read, bake, garden, and knit. I
absolutely LOVE my job and the incredible people I work with.
St. Cecilia School has many exciting service projects and events planned for next
week. We will be having daily challenges and providing requested items to Martha's
House of Hope, Romero House Catholic Worker and St. Cecilia Hispanic Ministry.
One of the students' favorite days is 'ER' day where they can dress up in any hobby
or profession ending in 'ER,' such as Teacher, Baker, Carpenter, etc. It is fun to see
what they come up with. If you would like to support St. Cecilia School during this
week, we are running short on funds for our Backpack Buddies and Tuition
Assistance. Please contact the school office if you're able to help. Thank you for your
continued support and prayers for our school.
