Our Board of Trustees has approved the installation of a new digital sign at the school entrance. Look for it to be installed soon. It’s a great way to get out news and events here at Coleman. Some of you might have heard that there were Health Code violations on a kitchen inspection. Our Chef, Erik Eck takes prides in the cleanliness of our facilities. The kitchen was written up for having a case of food containers on the stockroom floor, for having cleaning materials stored on the wrong shelf, and having condensation on the blower in the walk-in refrigerator. All were corrected immediately which was stated in the report. There were no violations with regards to food safety. The follow up inspection showed no violations. It is unfortunate that the whole report was not published, just our name. Please be assured that we continually monitor this situation, and have the utmost confidence in Erik and his staff. As we enter the last weeks of the school year please continue to pray for all of us here at Coleman.

JOHN A. COLEMAN SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS: We are happy to announce we will award a significant number of academic scholarships and need-based grants for the 2017-2018 school year. At this time, we anticipate the awards will be $500 each. Just like last year, these will be awarded early in July to students and families that apply and are registered by June 15th. If you are not yet registered, please do so soon. Not only will you be able to apply for the awards but it will help to make sure you get into the classes you want. We will mail home the scholarship applications to all students who are registered. As well, we will place the application on the website but we cannot accept applications until you are registered. These applications are due on June 30th.

PATIENCE FAMILY SCHOLARSHIPS: Once again the Patience family will be offering the Victor F. Patience and Mary E. Patience scholarship. These are $1,000 scholarships awarded to three students for tuition for the 2017-2018 school year. Applications will be available at the school at the end of June. You must presently be a John A. Coleman student (16-17 school year) and registered for next year to apply. New students aren’t eligible. If you are interested in applying please call the school office at 338-2750 to be put on the list to mail you an application once they are received. This application will also be put on our website.

Yearbooks are here. If you didn’t order one, we have extras so send in a payment of $75.00 to get one.

A MESSAGE FROM THE NURSE: Just a reminder: Any student planning on playing a sport next year needs a SPORTS PHYSICAL. This can be done over the summer at the Kingston District Medical Office or by your own family doctor. To schedule a sports physical at Kingston call the medical office at 943-3742 after June 1st. Sports physicals are required for participation and must be done in advance of the sport. There is specific paperwork for these SPORTS PHYSICALS. It will be mailed to your home with the report cards.

MONDAY JULY 17TH: COLEMAN’S ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT To benefit Coleman Tuition Scholarships

The cost is $125 and includes 18 holes of golf, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Prizes and raffles including chance to win 4 Yankee tickets.
