Rock Eagle Technology Park- This 130 acre, $2.3 million public/private partnership is almost complete and ready for occupancy. Complete utilities are available and lot sizes range from five acres up.

On Monday, Feb. 13, approximately 45 residents trav-eled to Atlanta to plead their case before the Public Ser-vice Commission not to allow Georgia Power to close down Units 1 & 2 at Plant Branch.

Doctors’ Hospice of Georgia has broken ground and be-gun building the facility on Hwy. 44. When completed and operational, this facility will create approximately 50 new jobs.

On February 17 & 18 Bon-nie Simmons, Tourism & Special Events Coordinator, attended The Next Cool Event, a collab-orative design affair mixing the best and latest from the entertainment industry, music industry, the interior design industry and the event in-dustry all under one roof. Simmons represented our Historic Heartland Travel Region in a booth themed after ‘Fried Green Tomatoes.’ 18 out of 19 counties in the travel region are certi-fied camera ready by the Georgia Department of Economic Development, including Putnam County.

This celebration and showcase of resources for the growing en-tertainment industry in Georgia began after the state adopted tax incentives favorable to production. Set designers, interior designers, event designers, locations, wardrobe specialists and others who are in the business of creating magic come together to show off their skills inspired by art installations or sets in-spired by a film or television series. Friday night, Red Carpet Cocktails, and Saturday night, VIP Gala (by invitation only), brought out the who’s who in the entertainment industry.

Quick Response Codes, known as QR Codes are popping up everywhere, even in Putnam County! Everyone is doing it, and so can you! Since it’s free, there is nothing to lose!

How do QR Codes work? Once you create a QR Code, you place it in vari-ous locations such as your advertising, store windows and business card. Customers with Smartphones can download a scanning App for free, that uses the phone’s camera, to scan the QR Code and process the action you have provided.

Through QR Codes you can make your advertising interac-tive and engage your customers through actions. Examples for QR Codes include taking the customer to a video, cou-pon, clue for a scavenger hunt, your location or promotion on your Web site.

You can create a free QR Code at many different Web sites such as QRStuff.com. Remember that scanning a QR Code requires effort on your customers part, so make sure it’s worth their while and provides a benefit!
