Dr. Dwight Damon, President of the National Guild of Hypnotists, writes:
“Did hypnosis actually occur with Adam and Eve, as we may believe from stories in the Bible and the Talmud? Was hypnosis the actual process used by priests in the Sleep Temples of ancient Greece and Egypt? Did Dr. James Esdaile in India in the mid-1800s actually perform thousands of surgical operations using only hypnoanasthesia? Why not? Do we have modern day “miracles” we can attribute to the use of hypnosis? Yes, I believe we can say that we do, but (and that’s a big but), hypnosis is not a panacea, a cure-all, or a substitute for the established healing arts. However, helping ordinary, everyday people with ordinary, everyday problems can keep consulting hypnotists busy, and can produce positive results for a lot of people. ... the practice of hypnotism, although said to have been mentioned in the Bible and the Talmud, has just finally emerged in the 21st century as a separate and distinct profession and there is a need to develop our own protocols regarding the principles and practice of hypnotism …”
Every day, the National Guild of Hypnotists is busy laying more groundwork, fortifying more relationships,
and opening more doors for its membership. And at no time each year is this ever more evident than it is at the annual convention, held annually in August.
No matter your schedule, your responsibilities, or your personal assets and notoriety, you cannot afford to miss this event. If you are a consulting hypnotist and part of the profession today then the NGH Convention is not optional. It’s not elective, discretionary, or even a ‘maybe’. If you are not there, then you have to
acknowledge to yourself that you really don’t care about your personal and professional growth, future, stability and opportunity to serve others nearly as much as you could.
