Notice first of all, how the Gospel describes Distance as a source of problems. The text says that Jesus had the disciples get in a boat and head to the other side of the lake while he remained behind. This distance between Jesus and his disciples leads to the second stage of the Gospel which is Distress. The text says while out on the lake a bad storm blew up causing the disciples to be distressed for their safety. Further, as Jesus approaches the disciples by walking on the water they think he is a ghost. This then leads to the third stage of the Gospel which is Decision. Jesus tells them to take courage and Peter decides to step out in faith. At Jesuscommand he steps out of the boat and walks on the water. But then comes the fourth stage, which is Distraction. Peter is distracted by the fierceness of the storm and takes his eyes off the prize, which is Jesus. Sure enough Peter begins to sink and calls out to Jesus to save him. Grabbing hold of Peter, Jesus takes him back to the boat to join the others and there comes the final stage of the Gospel which is Development. In this final stage their faith has been strengthened and their faith develops for they say of Jesus, Truly you are the Son of God.(Matthew 14:33) Stewardship Report 20172018 Weekly Budget Amount Needed $16,346 Actual Tithes Collected (8/6) $14,932 Actual Deficit (-) - $1,414 Mass Attendance for August 6, 2017 4:30pm 45 8:00am 103 11:00am 210 7:00pm 103 Total: 461 MASS INTENTIONS FOR THE WEEK Music Schedule Processional Come by Here LMGM #528 Responsorial Psalm Lord let us see your kindness, and grant us your salvation.
