Christmas Baskets & Ornament Raffle Melanie Wilmhoff

The GCDA Member Christmas Party is Sunday, Dec 13, 2015 at the Springfield Township Senior

Center on the lower level where we have our meetings. It starts at 11:30 a.m. Please come at 11:30

so you have a chance to shop at some of the member’s craft tables and to visit with the other members.

The Raffle baskets will be on display for your viewing. You may purchase Raffle tickets up until

the raffle begins. While you are milling around, enjoy an appetizer; we will have something

to tide you over until lunch is put out.

After lunch, we will have a gift exchange. This is optional. To participate, please bring a $10

wrapped gift. We would appreciate knowing “who” brought the gift we receive so that we may thank them

properly for the gift. The gift can be something you made or something you purchased. I love to shop

sales all year long so I can try to find a special something that I think one of you would enjoy!

After the gift exchange, we will have the Basket Raffle. We will draw raffle tickets for eight (8)

baskets and one (1) other item, which was generously painted and donated by Daisy Masminster.

In October, Theresa Morris turned in her basket (see photo). It is adorable! And the following

members turned in their ornaments: Anne Dick, Sherida England, Peggy Hermes, Linda Kohler, Susan

Parrett and Kathy Vanoli. They are all wonderful! If you have not turned in your basket or ornaments

yet, you still can!!! I will not be at the meeting Nov 8th, but Jo Ann Sharpshair will be happy to collect

them for me. She will also have the Raffle tickets and photos if you need some more to sell. Try to sell

Raffle tickets to your friends, family and neighbors.

Thanks for everything you do for GCDA!!

October Program Report Emily Stamm, VP Programs

October has come and gone! All of a sudden it’s time to prepare for the holidays!

There’s so much to do with GCDA in November. The Preview Party for Retreat is November 1st. The

meeting on November 8th is a really important one with election of officers and 2016 budget approval.

Please attend so that you can vote and show support of our candidates!! Following the meeting, I will be

teaching a class to create “Festive Tree Ornaments”. The sign-up deadline is November 5, so there is still

time to sign up if you would like to paint with me; I would love to have a few more students! Looking

ahead is our Christmas party on December 13th. Please RSVP soon!

Last month was our service project month, and we painted bags to hang on wheelchairs. Thanks to Peggy

Hermes for getting this service project together for us! Members also painted their own nametags to be

worn at meetings, and Michelle Kohler planned this project. Thanks so much for your leadership and guid-

ance Peggy and Michelle! Below are some of the pins that were painted by our members.

Thank you for all of your suggestions, help and support in planning our programs. I have scheduled the

monthly programs for 2016. It is wonderful that we have so many members willing to share their talents

with us! Please come to our monthly meetings and take classes and seminars!

Please call or email me with questions about programs or other painting opportunities.

Email: [email protected] or call (859)331-8599.

Happy Painting!

GCDA SERVICE

Peggy Hermes, Coordinator

Our service projects for 2015 have been very successful! In September, Keith Maupin (Yellow Ribbon Support)

came to our monthly Meeting to pick up our donations. He and his girlfriend Erica stayed for lunch and then gave a

little talk and answered our questions. Then we loaded up his van with items to be sent to the Military Troops serv-

ing all over the globe. We brought in A LOT!!!

In October (Service Month) we painted walker bags and donated them to Starfire Council. Robert Reed who is a

Starfire Member, is taking them to the Nursing Home where he volunteers. Robert and a Starfire Leader (Jon Gray)

visited our October Meeting. They arrived for lunch, stayed for our Meeting and painted a few Walker Bags with us.

Jon told me after the Meeting that they had a blast!

I want to take this time to let you all know how grateful I am for your generosity and support for our two Service Pro-

jects this year. Thanks to all who brought in donations for Keith Maupin and thanks to all who painted Walker Bags

at home and/or at the October Meeting. And to all who attended the September and October Meetings, thank you

for your donations of food and hospitality!

For next year we still have 50 Walker Bags to paint and donate. Please be thinking of some other things we can do

for 2016. I always welcome your suggestions. Thanks again for making this years’ service a success!

GCDA rocks!
