Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

그리스도 부활하셨네! 참으로 부활하셨네! (Geuriseudo buhwalhasyeonne! Chameuro buhwalhasyeonne!)
The above are versions of the Easter greeting in some of the many languages around the world. You can check
them on the “Paschal Greeting” page of Wikipedia. Some of you will hopefully recognize your native languages
among them. If I have missed yours out, please let me know. It would be interesting to know the linguistic groups
represented in the parish.
Christ is risen, truly He is risen! Greet one another with this proclamation this Easter season. And if,
tomorrow, someone asks if you had a nice Easter, reply that you are still celebrating Easter and will do for fifty days
until Pentecost. The way we approach our spiritual life and our temporal duties should be flavored by the seasons of
the Church.
I would like to thank all of you parishioners most sincerely for the way you entered into the Lenten season in
preparation for this Easter season. Stations of the Cross was well attended. Many took the opportunity to go to
Confession. I know that, for some, Confession is difficult. You may even have been told in the past that you do not
need to go to Confession. Well, you do! I do! We all do! In fact, we have an obligation to go to Confession at least
once a year. You are free to go to any priest who has the faculty to hear confessions.
Thank you also to those who have been generous with their time and talent in so many ways: decorating the
church for the seasons and feasts, cleaning the church, serving at the altar, providing music, volunteering in unseen
ways, and providing the “one thing necessary”: prayer. When all is said and done, prayer is the most important and
powerful thing we can do.
Christ is risen! Truly he is risen! Alleluia! Fr. John.
PARISH OFFICES WILL BE CLOSED FOR EASTER MONDAY (APRIL 22) AND EASTER TUESDAY (APRIL 23).

Divine Mercy Novena
April 28, 2019 is Divine Mercy Sunday. Divine Mercy
Sunday, a feast instituted by Pope Saint John Paul II, is
celebrated every year on the Octave of Easter. The Holy
Father extended the feast of the Divine Mercy Sunday to the
entire Church when he canonized St. Faustina in 2000.
OLPH began the Divine Mercy Novena on Good Friday.
Pamphlets are available to take so you may continue the
Novena and Chaplet at home. The Chaplet can be said at any
time, although many like to recite it at 3pm, the hour at which
Our Lord died on the Cross, but He (the Lord) specifically
asked that it be recited as a novena on the nine days before the
Feast of Mercy. OLPH will conclude the Novena on Sunday
April 28, there will be confessions at 2:15 pm, with a Divine
Mercy Sunday Holy Hour with sermon and recitation of
Divine Mercy Chaplet at 2:45pm, and confessions again at
4:00pm.

BIRTHDAYS
SCAM ALERT There is a large amount of SPAMMING going on which
appears on the face of it to come from local parish priests.
These have gone from coming strictly via email, to now
coming through text messages.
The message usually asks for gift cards or a wire transfer of
funds. A number of unsuspecting people have fallen for this
scam.
Today we are asking you to ignore all electronic requests such
as the ones stated above. The only way we can stop people
from being taken advantage of is to spread the word that this is
going on.
Please share this information, your help is greatly
appreciated.
