Living the Paschal Mystery
The Ascension of the Lord
May 7 & 8, 2016
We are all familiar with the Catholic doctrine the
Holy Scriptures are the inspired word of God.
Through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, each of
us is an inspired action-word of God when we are
faithful to Jesus. This means, as the gospel sug-
gests, that we are to preach and live as Jesus com-
manded. Repentance and forgiveness require that
we first are willing to do as Jesus did—give our-
selves over to the Spirit of God who heals and
gives Life. Having first experienced God’s saving
action, we can be that saving action for others.

Social Justice Reflection
“May Christ inflame the desires of all people to break through
the barriers which divide them, to strengthen the bonds of
mutual love, to learn to understand one another, and to pardon
those who have done them wrong. Through Christ’s power
and inspiration may all peoples welcome each other to their
hearts as brothers and sisters, and may the peace they long for
ever flower and ever reign among them.”
Pope John XXIII, Pacem in Terris 171

of Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore. You can meet four of
our retired priests; Fr. Raymond Forester, Msgr. Daniel McGlynn,
Fr. Leonard Kempski and Fr. Edward Stork, and learn about their
ministry on a short video posted on the diocesan website, cdow.org.
