HOW TO REACH US

Today we celebrate the Feast of Christ the King. It is a very new feast day having been instituted as a universal solemnity only in 1925. This feast day was instituted, in part, as a response to modernism, secularism and a general forgetfulness of God. Christ the King is not like an earthly king concerned with authority, power or the trappings of kingship. Christ the King has one concern and that is to share His life with us so that one day we can get to heaven. We adorn His images with crowns, scepters and orbs, which are the insignia of a King, but when we see these images or think of Him as king we can think of Him as king of our hearts, our spirits and really our entire lives. Modernism, secularism and forgetfulness of God can only lead to unhappiness and condemnation, but when Christ reigns in our lives there is joy, there is hope and there is love. Next week we begin Advent and the start of a new liturgical year, may Christ the King rule throughout this coming new year and fill us with the gifts that only He can give.

In Jesus and Mary, Fr. Flores

ADORATION & LITURGY

November 24, 2019 Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe “….giving thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to share in the inheritance of the holy ones in light.” COLOSSIANS 1:12 God wants us to be happy! Instead of looking at the Ten Commandments as being restrictive and telling us what we can’t do, look at them as guides for living a joy-filled and peaceful life. Most of our problems arise when we put our own needs first or spend most of our time trying to acquire “things”. Try putting God first in all things instead. Ask Him how He wants you to use your gifts.

STEWARDSHIP

“Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest? . . . “ You shall love the Lord, your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. . . . . The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Mt. 22:36-40

SOCIETY OF ST. VINCENT DE PAUL FAMILY MINISTRY & CATECHESIS

CHRISTMAS GIVING 2019 During this joyful Holiday Season, you are wished wonderful blessings and much happiness. At this time of year; however, many families are struggling due to unemployment, medical issues, homelessness, grandparents raising grandchildren, and so much more. For many years, the kindness of our parishion-ers has given these families a reason to celebrate the holidays with food boxes and presents. Here is our plan for this year: GIFT DONATIONS The Giving Tree, which will be adorned with tags beginning

Wednesday, November 27, is in the narthex. Please take a tag (or two) home with you and purchase a

gift(s) and/or a gift card(s). NEW THIS YEAR, each tag will feature a specific family number and will describe the “wish list” of an individual in that particular family.

Return the UNWRAPPED, bagged gift to Carol’s Barrow in the Narthex. It is very important that the GIFT BE

LABELED WITH THE TAG taken off the tree. The DEADLINE DATE for all gifts is Wednesday, December

18, 2019. MONETARY DONATIONS Monetary donations are appreciated to cover the cost of

non-perishable items that will be purchased through Super 1 and placed in the food boxes.

Each receiving family will also be given a $20 gift certificate from Super 1 to purchase perishable items. It would be wonderful if you would consider purchasing a Super I SCRIP, or give a cash or check donation. All contributions are greatly appreciated!

Please put your donations in a “CHRISTMAS BASKETS” ENVELOPE, located by the tree in the narthex, and place it in the collection basket at Mass or bring it into the church office.

DELIVERY DAY – SATURDAY, DECEMBER 21, 9:00 A.M. Many people are needed to deliver food boxes and

presents to families in Coeur d’Alene, Hayden, Rathdrum and Post Falls.

If you are available to assist on Saturday in delivering food boxes and presents, please contact Kathy Goodwin at 208- 818-1546 or sign up via the parish homepage at www.stpiuscda.org.

May simple joys of the holidays and the wonderful tradition of the season warm your heart, fill your home, and last the New Year through. THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!!

There will be NO elementary catechesis classes, middle school or high school youth group this week. We pray everyone has a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving.

CHRISTMAS TREE SALES will begin Friday, December 6th in the old Lyle’s parking lot on Best Ave, just 2 blocks south of St. Pius X! This is a wonderful opportunity to raise money for our youth group. We need lots of help from the youth, families, and the community selling and buying trees. Please consider signing up to help sell Christmas trees. Simply text TREES to 84576 and a link will be sent to you to choose a time slot that works well for your family to come and help. Tell your friends and families to also consider purchasing their tree from our youth!

Holiday SCRIP Incentive: If you placed an order for SCRIP gift cards, please pick it up from the SCRIP sellers after Masses this weekend. Thank you for supporting this important fundraiser for our school!
