Pastor’s Musing A store manager overheard a clerk saying to a customer, “No, ma’am, we haven’t had any for some weeks now, and it doesn’t look as if we’ll be getting any soon.” Alarmed by what was being said, the manager rushed over to

the customer, who was walking out the door, and said, “that isn’t true, ma’am. Of course, we’ll have some soon. In fact, we placed an order for it a couple of weeks ago.” Then the manager drew the clerk aside and growled,” Never, never, never, never say we don’t have some-thing. If we don’t have it, say we ordered it and it’s on it’s way. Now, what was it she wanted?”

The clerk said, “Rain.”

SAINTS AND SPECIAL OBSERVANCES Sunday: Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time; Catechetical Sunday Monday: St. Januarius Tuesday: Ss. Pastor’s Message Welcome to St. Ambrose ! We are so glad you are able to join us today to celebrate the Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time. OUR RESPONSIBILITY FOR OTHERS: The Second Vatican Council has called us to envision the Church as the people of God. As a community of believers we are responsible for our brothers and sisters, their salvation, their journey of faith, their physical well-being. Many of the documents of Vatican II and volumes of work since the mid-1960s give us advice, guidelines, and encouragement to take care of one another: the poor, the elderly, the unborn, the broken, the infirm. Because Vatican II is part of our recent history—indeed many of us were already born—this may strike us as a new and revolutionary idea. But today’s readings show

us the agelessness of the issue of social justice. Eight hundred years before Christ was born, Amos warned the wealthy not to cheat the poor. In Paul’s first letter to Timothy, he encourages all prayers to be for all people; and finally, the Gospel urges the wise use of money. Have a great week—Remember—the most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling; and even more beautiful is knowing that you are the reason behind it!

Sunday, September 18, 2016 Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time We pray our faith Faith is lived. But it’s also prayed. Today Catechetical Sunday considers the theme, “Prayer: the Faith Prayed.” Perhaps the most distinguishing thing we Catholics do is gather to pray: at Mass and sacraments, the blessing before meals, the Liturgy of the Hours, or to share a Rosary. Prayer isn’t always formal or complex. Saint Thérèse of Lisieux called prayer a surge of the heart, a simple look toward heaven. Saint Francis de Sales wittily declared, “Every one of us needs half an hour of prayer each day except when we’re busy—then we need an hour.” Renew your commitment to daily prayer.

RIPPLES: There is a ripple effect in all we do. What you do touches me; what I do touches you. —Anonymous

We are in need of creative teachers for our classes on Sundays and Wednesdays. If you want to share your faith with our youth, please come in and fill out an application. All you need is a willing heart, attend a three hour course on how to keep our children safe and be finger-printed, no cost to you. You will receive a Catechist Guide with all the answers to help inspire our children to grow in their walk with the Lord. Parents remember, if you teach a class, the registration fee is waived. We also are in need of teen aides. This is a wonderful way for your teen to give back, stay connected to the church and earn service hours for school. You can fill out an application in the Parish Office.

Donna Gonzalez, DRE I hope you all are having a fun and safe summer.

OUR LADY OF FLORIDA SPIRITUAL – RETREAT Saint Ambrose Parish

Reflecting Christ is the retreat theme this year, which is sometimes difficult to do in our world. However, as disciples and missioners, we are called to reflect Christ & the fruit of the Holy Spirit in all that we do - by emulating his love, truth, mercy, goodness, joy, peace, patience and kindness. Come join us, this year as we disconnect and slip away into a weekend of peaceful reflection. Together we will have opportu-nities to deepen our faith and understanding of our role as Christ's disciple with members of other area parishes. For more information, look for us in the Parish Hall after Mass; stop by the church office to pick up regis-tration information or contact: Women’s Retreat: September 30-October 2, 2016 Contact: Donna Kinney, 954-290-7952 Men’s Retreat: October 14-16, 2016 Contact: Pat Glass, 954-673-3708

BIBLE STUDY God Is Calling You to a Deeper Relationship with Him

If we consider that God is the Divine Bridegroom and the Church is His Bride, then the prophets can be seen as “spiritual marriage counselors.” They afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted, calling us to return to our covenant relationship with God. They urge us to repentance, warn us of the dangers of sin, and announce the blessings of faithfulness. Their prophetic words speak to us even today, as they draw us closer to our heavenly Bridegroom. A Bible study, The Prophets: Messengers of God’s Mercy, will be presented from 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, September 20-November 22, in the Parish Hall Upper Room.

Contact Bill Whiting at 561-368-6531 or email [email protected].
