St. Charles Borromeo Church May 26, 2019
This Monday, May 27, is Memorial Day and the first official summer holiday of 2019. There will be one Mass on Monday, at 8:30am. (So no 7:00am and no 7:00pm Mass!) The Parish Office
will be closed on Monday so that our staff can spend time with their families. If you need something from the Office (gift certif-icates for your Monday picnic shopping?), stop after Mass today or early in the week. This is a Big Week for St Charles Eighth Graders. Many will be honored at the Sports Banquet this Tuesday, May 28, at 6:30pm in the Corrigan Gym. After the traditional 8:30am “Candle Mass,” their last day of formal classes will be Wednesday. The soon-to-be graduates will attend the 8:30am Mass on Thursday the 30th and then move to the Lower Parish Hall for the customary Eighth Grade Breakfast—and for the last time I will give them their end-of-semester report cards. The Eighth Grade Graduation Ceremony will take place in our church Thursday evening at eight o’clock. Congratulations, 2019 St Charles Borromeo School graduates. The final day of clas-ses for the rest of the school will be Friday, May 31—therein con-cluding the ninety-fifth academic year of St Charles Borromeo School. Thank you to our Day School Administration and Staff for another excellent school year. The last Friday, 8:30am Daily Mass for this school year will be this Friday, May 31. The Friday 8:30am Mass will resume on August 23 when the students return for the new school year. However, there will be an 8:30am Mass on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer. Every year the Diocese of Cleveland awards sixteen Bishop’s Scholarships for Excellence. Hundreds of students, from more than one hundred diocesan schools, compete to win one of those scholarships. This year three of those sixteen scholarships were won by St Charles Borromeo School students! Congratulations to:
Gabriella Krivanis, Danielle Williams, Karissa Williams-Kuzmickas
Bishop Nelson Perez will make the scholarship presentations at a June luncheon. Next Sunday, June 2, at the 12:00Noon Mass. Father Ned Weist will celebrate his fiftieth anniversary of priestly ordination. Father Weist was the popular newly-ordained associate pastor of St Charles from 1969 to 1974. After next Sunday’s Mass, there will be a reception for Father Weist in the Lower Parish Hall. All are invited to next week’s Mass and Reception. The first of eight weekly $500 drawings will take place this Sunday evening for our Carnival 2019 Sellers’ Appreciation Raffle. Tickets were sent to all homes the week of May 19. Carnival 2019 dates? Wednesday to Sunday, July 10 to 14. Those at next Sunday’s 8:00am and 10:00am Masses are invited to the June Donut Social in the Lower Parish Hall. Many thanks to Parish Council for hosting this event. There is a June Parish Activities Calendar in this bulletin; on the reverse side there is Carnival 2019 Flyer with lots of infor-mation about our 87th Annual Summer Extravaganza. Please keep that Calendar and Flyer in your home for the next few weeks.
If you are a Catholic who has been away from the Church for a while, or know of someone who has been away from practicing the Catholic faith, this invitation is for you.
St. Charles Parish will offer the opportunity for those who
have been away to revisit the Church Community.
Please join us for informal listening sessions and an update of
the Catholic faith facilitated by a team of Lay Members of

Sixth Sunday of Easter May 26, 2019
Let's make everyone, whether a familiar face or visiting friend, feel welcomed in a big way to St. Charles Parish Community as a member of the Greeter Ministry.
And, while it is everyone’s role to greet, the ministry of greeter has an important leadership role for all of us in making sure each person who walks through the doors feels the loving presence of Jesus Christ and the welcoming presence of our community.
We are in need of disciples with the spiritual gift of hospitality to be the welcoming face of Christ at all Mass times.
All ages are welcome! Families are welcome to do this together. If you enjoy saying “hello” and can come just a little bit earlier to your regular Mass and stay just a few minutes later, please join us. Fill out your contact information below and return it to Fr. Carlin through the offertory or at the Parish Office.

CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD
The 19th season of CLW has come to a close. Thank you to our dedicated teachers: Mrs. Long, Mrs. Dean, Mrs. Mencke, Mr. and Mrs. Pierce, and Mr. and Mrs. Albertino who have made our Sunday Liturgy engaging for the younger members of our parish.
The CLW team is in need of more teachers for our 10:00am Sunday morning ministry. If you would like to share your faith with our younger children, please contact Mrs. Deena Brennan ([email protected]) or call the PCRF office (440-886-5668). The time commitment is minimal, and the rewards are great. Teaching aides are given for each week. Teachers are usually scheduled once a month. CLW teachers do need to be VIRTUS trained.
CLW returns the first Monday after Labor Day in September.
Merici Chapel… We always seem to make time for one extra job or chore in our lives. How important are these little extras? However, a few minutes each week in Merici Chapel are priceless and will help on our earthly journey. Try and stop in the chapel and say a decade of the Rosary in these last few weeks of May. Jesus and Mary are waiting to see you.
