Mass Intentions From Fr. Flanagan

Dear St. Madeline Family, “Arise - Restoring Catholic Life after the Pandemic”

School’s out for the summer, Father’s Day is here and July 4th is right around the corner. Every year my Father said, “It’s July 4th. The summer’s over!” We would laugh and say no it isn’t. It’s only just begun. So, what are you doing for the summer, or what did you pick up during the pandemic – possibly a good book, bike riding, some walking or even running for the brave of heart. What I have seen pick up is the number of people visiting the Church and Mary at the parish grotto. Remember when you were a kid and you went to your Mother first about something, so she might possibly talk Dad into saying yes to your request. That was almost a fool-proof process. It works with our Blessed Mother in a similar fashion – giving our request to Mary so that she can get God the Father and Jesus to say yes. Today, let us also pray that Jesus and Mary will bless and grace us with true and lasting peace. Please contact me with any prayer requests, concerns or good news. Let us stand united in prayer and united as St. Madeline Church. God bless all. Peace,

Fr. John Flanagan

SUNDAY MASS READINGS:

Reading I: Jeremiah 20: 10-13 In the midst of the prophet’s gloomy mood, there comes this passage, expressing his deep confidence in the Lord’s strength and protection. He is “like a mighty champion.”

Reading II: Romans 5: 12-15 Adam, one man, brought sin into the world. Jesus, one new man, brought God’s grace into the world. By Him, all people can be saved.

The Gospel: Matthew 10: 26-33 This passage, part of Christ’s “Mission Discourse,” speaks of appropriate versus inappropriate fear. In their somewhat frightening new task of preaching, the Twelve listen as Jesus allays their fears. He tells them to “fear no one even those who might kill you in body but not the soul.”

June 21 through June 27: The Vigil Candle on the Saint Joseph Altar has been lit in memory of James McKinney, Sr. at the request of his family.

The Vigil Candle on the Saint Joseph Altar has been lit in memory of Joseph Capriotti at the request of Ed Capriotti.

The Vigil Candle on the Saint Joseph Altar has been lit in memory of Philip M. Anderson at the request of Margaret McArdle.
