THE CATHOLIC POST

“Delivering Unity Campaign”

It’s not too late to ensure home delivery of The Catholic Post with a contribution to the newspaper’s “Delivering Unity Campaign” now under way. While $25 is the traditional subscription price, larger gifts to the campaign also contribute toward the goal of shar-ing the newspaper’s vital news and information—both in print and digitally—with the entire diocese as often as possible. If you’ve misplaced the envelope that came with the special edition of the newspaper earlier this month, contributions may also be made via credit card online at thecatholicpost.com or by calling 1-800-340-5630.

A NEW READING SERIES NEEDED

St. Michael School is looking for dona-tions towards a new reading series that will be purchased for grades K-6th grade next year. Our current series is still good, but is outdated for today’s new interventions towards reading curriculum. It is our goal to purchase a new series that our teachers and the planning com-mittee will select through research and meetings. The donations will go directly to the purchasing of this series which is a major purchase out of the school budget. All schools in the state used to rely heavily on the IL Textbook Loan program that was eliminated from school funding for all schools. Thus, anyone that is interested in helping our students become more confident and fluent readers will give a gift of a lifetime to our St. Michael students. If interested, please contact the school office at 815-672-3847.

ST. MICHAEL SCHOOL

REGISTRATION

School registration will begin Tuesday, March 1st at the school. If you register your children during the first week of March, your family will receive 5% off if tuition is paid in full by September 30, 2011. More-over, if your family recommends another new family to St. Michael School and the new family registers for the 2011-2012 school year, then you will receive an additional 5% off of your tuition. Let’s keep the spirit of our school moving and promoting the value of Catholic Education!

Thank you to everyone who helped make our 2011 Book Fair so successful! David Rashid, from our 1st grade class, was the winner of the Guess How Many Pages Contest.

The total sales for the fair were $2,320.15. This al-lowed for a 55% match of funds from Scholastic for a total of $1,276.08 worth of books for our school li-brary.

Thanks again for supporting our school and keep reading!!!

Confirmation Students from St. Michael the Archan-gel Parish attended a retreat at Nazareth House in Henry, Illinois. Pictured are some of the students participating in an ice breaker exercise with one of the Sisters at the beginning of the retreat. Students had group sharing, attended a conference, prayed in front of the Blessed Sacrament , ate a great Spaghetti lunch, and concluded with attending Mass. Confirma-tion students from St. Louis Parish Princeton also at-tended and interacted with our students. This was a mandatory event in preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. This year Confirmation will take place on Saturday, April 9 in the cathedral in Peoria.

Thank you to everyone who came out & supported our Spaghetti Dinner during Catholic Schools Week. It was a big success. Over 300 dinners were served & our profit was over $1,300.00! Also, thank you to all the workers & everyone who donated desserts.
