Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time † October 16, 2016
“Remain faithful to what you have learned and believed,
because . . .from infancy you have known the Sacred Scriptures,
which are capable of giving you wisdom for salvation
through faith in Christ Jesus.
All Scripture is inspired by God . . .”
2 Timothy 3: 14-16
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
SS. Peter & Paul Parish, a community of faith called by God to deepen
our relationship with Jesus Christ, serves the Lord by sharing our time,
talent and treasure. As disciples of Christ, we are called to bring Jesus
Christ to ourselves and others: our children, the sick, the poor, the fallen
away Catholics and those who need to hear God’s message of uncondi-
tional love and forgiveness. SS. Peter & Paul Parish is a beacon of light
rooted in Jesus Christ, passed on to his successor, our Holy Father the
Pope, and is guided by our local bishop to build the Kingdom of God on
Earth. It is our mission to shine the light of Jesus Christ in our world and
to spiritually enrich the individual members of the parish as well as the
larger community through word, worship, sacrament and service.

Visiting Priests
Weekend: We thank Msgr. Joseph Kelly, former di-
rector of Catholic Social Services for the Diocese, for
coming to celebrate the weekend Masses Oct. 15-16.
Fr. Ed will be back next weekend.
Weekdays: We thank Father Michael Drevitch for
celebrating Mass last Friday in the absence of Fr. Ed;
he will return this coming Wednesday, October 19,
for the 8:30 am Mass. The regular weekday schedule
will resume next week.
Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta:
HOLINESS
does not consist in doing extraordinary
things. It consists in accepting, with a smile,
what Jesus sends us. It consists in accepting
and following the will of God.
Anointing of the Sick—October 30, 2016
The annual Anointing of the Sick within Mass will be
held in the parish this year on Sunday, October 30,
2016, at 2:00 PM.
This is a wonderful opportunity for those
who are elderly, infirm, suffering health
or mental problems— whether acute or
chronic— or who just need a special
blessing.
Weekday Mass Change
This week there will be no weekday morning Masses
except on Wednesday, October 19.
In Memoriam
In memory of parishioners who have died during the
past year, our parish annual Memorial Mass has been
scheduled for Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 5 PM.
A letter of invitation has been sent out to those
families to participate in the Ceremony of Light in
remembrance of their loved one at this special liturgy.
All are welcome to attend this special Mass.
World Mission Sunday—Oct. 23, 2016
Next week, we will celebrate World Mission Sunday. Its
theme this year is “Mercy Changes the World.” Pope
Francis invites the entire Church to support the young
mission dioceses in Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, and
parts of Latin America and Europe, where the priests,
religious and lay leaders serve some of the poorest of
the poor. Please
keep these
Missions in
your prayers
and be generous
in next week’s
collection for
the Society for
the Propagation
of the Faith.
For contribution credit, use a check; or put cash in an
envelope with your name/contribution envelope number
on it.
