1. “Advent keeps the wait on Christ filled with hope, who will come to visit us with his salvation, fully realizing his Kingdom of justice and peace. The annual evocation of the birth of the Messiah in Bethlehem renews in the hearts of believers the certainty that God is
faithful to his promises. Advent is, therefore, a powerful announcement of Hope that deeply affects our personal and community experience. ” “Every man dreams of a more just and supportive world, however, it is not so. Obstacles, contrasts and difficulties of all kinds weigh as a burden on our existence and sometimes seem to oppress it. It is precisely in these moments when hope comes to our aid. The mystery of Christmas assures us that God is Emmanuel, God is with us. For this reason, we should never feel alone. He is by our side, he became one of us at birth in the virginal womb of Mary. He shared our pilgrimage on earth, allowing us to reach that joy and peace to which we aspire in the deepest of our being. ” 2. “We can, therefore, say that the meaning of Christian hope, reconsidered by Advent, is that of Confident Waiting, that of Operant Disposition and Joyful Opening to meet the Lord.
