Sept 19 Depart USA

Sept 20 Arrive Lisbon, Portugal – 2 nights in a 4 star Sana Rex hotel

Sept 21 Lisbon – morning city tour, an afternoon tour of Sintra, Estoril and lunch in the coastal town of Cascais.

Sept 22 Leaving Lisbon, we begin visiting important milestones on the Portuguese Way of St. James. Drive to Obidos (the wedding gift town), continue to Batalha, a visit to the Monastery, and Fatima with a visit to the Basilica. Lunch in Fatima. Continue in the afternoon to Coimbra. Overnight in the charming hotel Astoria, 1 night.

Sept 23 Morning guided sightseeing of Coimbra including Baroque Library. Continue to Aveiro for lunch and a panoramic Estuary “Ria” Cruise. Afternoon continue to Porto. 2 nights in Porto. Hotel Infante de Sagres.

Sept 24 Morning tour of Porto including Vilanova da Gaia for Port winery visit and tasting. Afternoon free.

Sept 25 Depart toward the Douro River Valley by Amarante, stopping in Vila Real for a visit to the Cathedral and Palacio de Mateus, Lamego and a visit to the sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedios and lunch in Peso da Regua. Continue to Pinhao for our overnight stay at the Douro River Hotel & Spa.

Sept 26 Full day of sightseeing in the Douro River Valley with winery visits and river cruise. After the cruise that includes lunch, proceed to Guimaraes Overnight and dinner at the Pousada Santa Marinha.

Sept 27 Depart Guimaraes, via Barcelos, Braga, and Viana do Castelo, crossing the Spanish border in Tui and continue to Pontevedra for lunch and a guided walk through the city’s old quarter. After lunch, we contin-ue on the Portuguese Camino de Santiago via Padron to our historic des-tination, Santiago de Compostela. 2 nights at Parador dos Reis Catolicos in Santiago including dinner.

Sept 28 Morning guided tour of Santiago de Compostela and Mass in the Santiago Cathedral – reported by our 2013 pilgrims to be a life changing experience! Farewell dinner at the Parador dos Reis Catolicos.

Sept 29 Transfer to Santiago airport and fly home.
