The parable addresses the recurring problem of believers who may blindly claim that they can discern the righteous from the wicked, thereby separating themselves from the rest to form a circle of the good and the wicked, the friends and the enemies. The tragic consequence of such a distinction is intolerance and the desire to solve rapidly and violently the tensions arising from them. Thus we might have believes who, since they cannot do all this personally, ask God to in- tervene to judge and punish. The readings of today thus, tell us very clearly that God will never carry out these ideas of impossibilities of forming up his creatures. The first reading for example, teaches that God will use his force not to hit man, but to save him; he wants all of us to do the same. The gospel tells us to accept with peace of mind the pres- ence of evil in the world, and invites us to recognize the dar- nel present also in our hearts and it assures us that the love of God will one day destroy it. Thus, the task of separating the good from the bad should be reserved to God, who will set things right in His own time. The second reading speaks of the Spirit that prays to us. It beseeches the Father to destroy all evil, and this prayer will certainly be granted. For we should notice how God is patient with each one of us in our struggles, and he is patient with everyone in the world. And of course at the end of time will he use the fire to burn the weeds? God will use the fire that a Christian must firmly believe in: it is the fire of the love of God that can burn away all evil that is concealed in the heart of people. The destruction of all evil can only be accom- plished by God. Amen. Fr. Paul Deacon Steve Tabor Phone: 503.769.8089

WELCOME TO THE CATHOLIC COMMUNITIES OF

“God Is Patient with Weeds,” In today’s Sunday Jesus brings his message of salvation through the parable of the weeds among the wheat. Thus we might have believes who, since they cannot do all this personally, ask God to in-tervene to judge and punish. The readings of today thus, tell us very clearly that God will never carry out these ideas of impossibilities of forming up his creatures. The first reading for example, teaches that God will use his force not to hit man, but to save him; he wants all of us to do the same. The gospel tells us to accept with peace of mind the pres-ence of evil in the world, and invites us to recognize the dar-nel present also in our hearts and it assures us that the love of God will one day destroy it. The destruction of all evil can only be accom-plished by God. Amen. Fr. Paul

ments with polished granite covers. Each niche can accommodate

two urns and includes the polished granite cover which serves as the

memorial marker that will be engraved with your personal

information.

Each niche also comes with a small flower vase and will

accommodate the bronze service medallion the VA provides.

You can reserve a space today by

purchasing the niche in advance of need.
