Archbishop’s Annual Appeal
Prayer and Precautionary Measures
Archbishop Lucas asks that Catholics throughout the Archdiocese of Omaha pray for the intercession of St. Joseph on March 19th, during this time of uncertainty due to the spread of the coronavirus. The 19th is the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary. St. Joseph is the patron saint of the Universal Church. The below prayer will be said at the daily mass on March 19th at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, and please consider it as part of your prayer.
In discussion with the parish council for Our Lady of Mount Carmel, St. Pat’s Bash will be postponed to a date to be determined, especially given the Archdiocese’s recommendation and request that all fish fries throughout the Archdiocese be cancelled until further notice.
In addition, as precautionary measures the following will be implemented at the weekend masses at St. Francis and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel:
~~suspending the exchange of the sign of peace; and
~~suspending the distribution of the precious Blood. (We receive the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ undivided under the species of bread alone.)
If you have any input, comment or questions, please do not hesitate to let me know or one of our parish trustees or council members.
Prayers for the World during the Outbreak of the Coronavirus
To you, O blessed Joseph, do we come in our tribulation. Through that charity which bound you to the immaculate Virgin Mother of God and through the paternal love with which you embraced the Child Jesus, we humbly beg you graciously to regard the inher- itance which Jesus Christ has purchased by his Blood, and with your power and strength to aid us in our necessities.
O most loving father, ward off from us every contagion of error and corrupting influence; O our most mighty protector, be propitious to us and from heaven assist us in our struggle with the power of darkness; and, as once you rescued the Child Jesus from deadly peril, so now protect God's children from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity; shield, too, each one of us by your constant protection. Amen. (Excerpted from the Enchiridion of Indulgences, 1969)
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel pray for us! St. Francis of Assisi pray for us!
My thanks for the support given to the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. As noted above, St.
Francis and Our Lady of Mount Carmel met both the financial goal and participation goal. Thank you and congratulations! A testament to each parish!
Please call June Andersen (887-4937) Milly Clemens (887-5069) or the parish office (887-4521) to add names to the prayer list. The below lists are those in need of prayers or continuing prayers. Most recent prayer requests will be included as part of the petitions during weekend masses for three weeks or as long as requested. Thank you for praying for those in need.
