100TH ANNIVERSARY OF FATIMA APPARITIONS This year marks the 100th anniversary of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to three shepherd children in Portugal from May to October 1917. Pope Francis has encouraged the faithful to take advantage of the spiritual benefits at Marian celebrations during this centennial observance. In the Dio-cese of Altoona-Johnstown, Bishop Mark will lead celebrations beginning with one on Saturday, May13 with the Memorial of Our Lady of Fatima at 11:30 AM along with the recitation of the Rosary and Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Altoona. The faithful may obtain a plenary indulgence during the Cen-tennial Fatima Observance as announced by Pope Francis. To obtain the plenary indulgence, the faithful must fulfill the ordinary conditions (Go to confession and Communion, be interiorly detached from sin, and pray for the intentions of the Holy Father) as well as do special Fatima visits/devotions. TUNE INTO WJVM 90.3-FM & WEJO 104.7-FM IN LENT! (i-Phone & Android apps for the stations are available- visit waob.org for details.) We are now recording for the April prayer slots. We thank the members of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Rev. Patrick McArdle #448 and St. John the Evangelist Church in Bellefonte for their re-cent recording. If you would like to pray or receive our monthly programming e-blasts, contact Sheryl Balkey at (814)238-6288 or [email protected]. Remember, just $100/day keeps our Catholic voice on the air. Your tax-deductible donation may be mailed to: Voice of Divine Mercy, PO Box 862, State College, PA 16804-0862. We ask that you keep the homebound, hospitalized, and imprisoned members of our listening audience in your prayers throughout Lent. And please remember those in our local RCIA programs who will be entering into the fullness of the Catholic Church at Easter Vigil. “BREWING THE FAITH” PROGRAM “Brewing the Faith” is for all people that are 40 years of age and above, and want to learn more about the Catholic faith. The events will be held at the Ramada Conference & Golf Hotel at 1450 South Atherton Street in State College. Gatherings are held on Wednesdays from 7:00 PM to about 8:30 PM. This season’s presentations highlight the similarities between various faiths and the Catholic faith on several specific topics. The following dates, speakers, and topics are as follows: April 19th Similarities of the Islamic Faith: Allah, Prophets and Books oh my! Speaker: Zakariya Khayat, The Islamic Society of Central PA. CEMETERY SPRING CLEAN-UP Please remove any decorations or flowers from the grave sites at St. John’s Cemetery by Friday, April 21st so that cleanup for the spring and summer season can begin. Anything that is not removed by that date will be discarded by the cemetery clean-up crew. Please also remember that nothing is to be planted in the ground at the gravesites and all wreaths should be placed as close to the tombstones as possible or on top of the stones. Since there is no Fun Festival scheduled for this year, we will have an “ole’ fashioned” picnic for all our parish families to come together and enjoy. All the details will be forthcoming in future bulletins, but we wanted to give you the date so you can jot it down on your calendars. Hopefully, you have received the letter and Cash Raffle Tickets that were mailed out to all parishioners last week. We sent each family a total of five books of tickets at $5.00 a book of 6 tickets. If you can purchase them all, that’s great! If not, perhaps you can sell some to a friend or neighbor. This Cash Raffle will be our church’s only fund raiser for this year so we appreciate your full participation. All ticket stubs and money need to be returned to the rectory (via mail, dropped off or placed in the collection basket) by the week of June 4th since the drawing will be at our Church Picnic on June 11th. EARLY BULLETIN DEADLINES THROUGH EASTER Please forward any info to be inserted in the bulletin as soon as possible because of early submission deadlines.

MEMORIAL AND DONATIONS We have received donations in memory of Elizabeth “Betty” Lutchko from the following persons: Frank & Nan Moerschbacher; Stefanie Tomlinson; Ron & Diane Lidgett At this time of year, we begin to plan and budget for next school year, as well as look for ways to help some of our families with tuition payments. We’d be so grateful if you’d consider giving a donation to our school in honor or memory of a loved one. Another option is the Angel Fund. Money given to this fund can be donated anonymously and is used to assist with the tuition of families who are in need. The donor may designate a particular student(s) or they may request that the school administration choose the recipient. Please consider contributing to this very worthwhile fund and help with the financial stability of St. John School. To make a donation, please call the school office.
