ENDOW Class

Endow (Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women) is a Catholic edu-cational program that brings women together to discov-er our God-given dignity and to understand our role in humanizing and transforming society. We will begin our study with "Letter to Women." Pope John Paul II wrote this letter in 1995 for the occasion of the 4th Unit-ed Nations Conference on Women. This papal letter continues today to reaffirm the dignity of all human per-sons. Our study will begin on Thursday, October 27th from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. For more information contact Ti-na Balderrama @681-1658 or see the ENDOW web-site.to register. Space is limited. This study has no homework and is an opportunity for busy women to gather and to deepen our faith by providing knowledge and fellowship in an intimate small group setting.

Eucharistic Adoration

Brothers and sisters: Indeed the word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, pene-trating even between soul and spirit (Heb 4:12).” As in today’s gospel, the rich man that approached Jesus and

asked him what he should do to inherit eternal life, we too are faced with similar decisions to make of right and wrong in everything that concerns us in our lives to gain eternal

salvation. This is where the word of God slices through the soul and spirit. The spirit keeps on giving us life to live, but we become spiritually dead when the soul becomes sinful and thus abhorrent to God. To avoid this, let us come to-

gether and pay homage to the second person of The Holy Trinity and ask for guidance at the Adoration Chapel. The Adoration Chapel is located on the left side of the church, accessible from outside. It is open from 5am—midnight,

daily. It is here that one may spend time with Our Lord, pre-sent in the Holy Eucharist. Please call Ken Green at

435-3886 if you have any questions.

call our Parish Office at 422-2777 ext. 110.

Nov. 17-20

WE’RE BAAAACK! It is time to start thinking of the St. Luke sponsorship for our 11th Habitat for Humanity House. The annual Hard-Hat collection will take place on the first weekend of November. Remember: Habitat for Humanity is a “Hand-up” not a “Hand-out” Ministry. It is a nonprofit Ecu-menical Christian housing organization that was created out of faith and desire to serve God by serving His people in need. Since the San Antonio affiliate began in 1976, HFHSA in partnership with thousands of contributors and volunteers have built over 700 simple, decent, and affordable homes. These have been built in partnership with and in service to very low-income families who must put in at least 300 “sweat-equity” hours help-ing build their homes and homes of their neigh-bors. The Habitat home buyers pay for an interest-free 20-25 year mortgage; they are not given their house. These families are families that otherwise would not have realized the dignity of homeowner-ship. HFHSA is unique in that it is the only non-profit that serves “the working poor” in this way. Please continue to pray for our partners and all the families for whom we have helped build, refer any questions or comments to Homer and Sue Fetzer @ 434-5475.

AND start saving for the November Hard-Hat collection!
