Young Parishioner in Fulbright U.S. Student Grant Program
Jennifer Dombroski, daughter of Allan and Patricia Dombroski, is a recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship. She will be going to Germany to teach for one year. A member of the University of Rochester Class of 2016, Jennifer is a linguistics major. This fall, she will teach English conversation and U.S. culture in the German state of Nordrhein-Westfalen. A member of the honor society Phi Beta Kappa, she looks forward to a career teaching both English and German.
At St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish, Jennifer serves as song leader and reader at St. Mary’s.

Study Group Completed Thirty people have
just completed the ten-session Study Group, Wisdom & Works of Mercy, by author and spiritual leader, Michael E. Gaitley, MIC. This is the third program in the Hearts Afire Series, from the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception, that have been brought to our parish by Peg Dietl
and Kathy Pritchett.
The Wednesday night sessions each began with an inspiring DVD lecture, followed by small group guided discussions. Two books, The One Thing is Three (the Trinity) and You Did It to Me (to the least of my brothers) are parts of the “new evangelization” that comes from Vatican II and also inspires the works of mercy and devotion to Divine Mercy that are at the heart of the teachings of Pope Francis.
Watch for more opportunities to grow in your faith in the coming months. Ω
“On Love in the Family” Apostolic Exhortation published May 6, 2016
Following two recent synods on the family, Pope Francis has prepared written guidance to support and strengthen families, calling them to be a sign of mercy and encouragement for families of all shapes and sizes. Our Sunday Visitor published the exhortation in a soft cover book, adding reflection and discussion questions to help Catholics grow in their understanding of this call, and to act upon it. www.osv.com.

Fatima Shrine in Lewiston, New York, for Thursday, May 19, 2016.

It is Time to Plant Your Maximilian Sunflower Seeds!! Yes, there really is a Maximilian Sunflower
(Helianthus Maximiliani). And it’s time to help plant them throughout the St. Max parish community!
Locate your seed packets (right) received at masses last fall – or get them at masses this weekend or at the Mother-Daughter Country Fair on Sunday, 2 pm.
If we plant now, flowers should bloom in the late summer and fall!
Later, share pictures of your Maximilian Sunflower experience: planting, growing, and flowers. Have fun with it, like time lapse or including yourself, family, friends, or pets in your photos.
Summer Mass Schedule at St. Rose Mass at St. Rose will return to Sunday 8:30 AM for as long as we can get priests to help. Summer Mass at St. Rose will start on Sunday July 3 and the last Sunday will be September 4, Ω
