A number of years ago, the pastor of a neighboring
parish, known simply as “the Monsignor” (you
have to be famous to have just one name!), would
often ask people, “What did you do for God
today?” It didn’t matter what you had done the day
or week before; what mattered was what you did
with the present moment. His simple question
reminded us that faith is never a done deal, but a
deal waiting to be done. Advent is a deal waiting to be done. We can make
grand plans and be filled with wishful thinking and
spiritual thoughts, but good intentions never filled
an empty stomach or healed a broken heart.
Something always comes up that needs to be done
and we end up saying to ourselves, “There’s
always next year.” Really? What if there isn’t?
What would you have wanted to do? This is the
year, now is the time, and here is your opportunity. So, do something. Get the family together and
decide what you will do. Pray the rosary together.

Reflexión del Evangelio
“Estad siempre alegres en el Señor; os lo repito; estad alegres. El Señor está cerca” (Flp 4, 4-5).
Con este llamado de san Pablo, que se proclama como Antífona de Entrada, inicia la Misa en este Tercer Domingo de Adviento, que es llamado ‘Domingo Gaudete’, (palabra en latín que significa:
‘alegraos’, y por eso a este domingo también se le conoce co-mo ‘domingo de la alegría’, se suaviza un poquito el color morado propio del Adviento y el celebrante puede usar vesti-duras rosadas). Se trata de expresar alegría porque ya se acerca el Señor, alegría que no sólo se refiere a que ya falta menos para Navidad, sino también a que cada día que pasa nos acercamos más al encuentro definitivo con el Señor, con Aquel que nos ama, que nos comprende, que nos juzga con misericordia y que quiere nuestra salvación. Y si hay por allí alguien a quien pensar en el encuentro con el Señor le provoca temor, porque le da miedo salir reprobado a la hora de entregarle muy malas cuentas, cabe recordarle que está a buena hora para cambiar de rumbo, reorientar sus pasos hacia Dios y comenzar a vivir cumpliendo Su voluntad. Y Su voluntad para nosotros este domingo es que nos alegremos. Con tantas malas noticias en el mundo, en el país, y quizá también en nuestras comunidades y familias, podría parecer una cruel broma que se nos invite a alegrarnos, ¿cómo?, ¿por qué podríamos alegrarnos?, ¿es posible alegrarse en medio de tantas razones para el desaliento, el enojo, la indignación, la desesperanza? ¡Sí es posible! Desde luego, la primera y fundamental razón para nuestra alegría es la que dice el profeta Isaías en la Primera Lectura. “Me alegro en el Señor con toda el alma y me lleno de júbilo en mi Dios” (Is 61,10). Se nos invita a alegrarnos en el Señor. ¿Cómo se hace eso? Cabría considerar al menos tres formas: 1) Ser conscientes de todo lo que Dios ha hecho por nosotros: que nos dio la vida, cuanto somos y tenemos; que nos ama sin que lo merezcamos; que nos asiste y colma con Su gracia y que nos invita a vivir con Él eternamente. Meditar en ello nos deja siempre gozosos. 2) Ya que el Señor es la fuente de nuestra alegría, ¡acudir a saciarnos en esa fuente! Acercarnos a Él, a pedirle perdón en la Confesión, a recibir Su abrazo, Su Palabra, a Él mismo en la Eucaristía; darnos tiempo para hablar con Él, y también para escucharlo, para estar con Él, adorándolo y disfrutando Su amorosa cercanía. 3) Alegrarnos en Dios que está en los demás, descubrirlo y
amarlo en ellos, en especial, en los más necesitados.

Ý NGHĨA LỜI CHÚA CHÚA NHẬT III
MÙA VỌNG C
BÀI ĐỌC 1: Xp 3,14-18 Ngôn sứ Xôphônia rao giảng trong thế kỷ VII trước công nguyên, vào những năm trước khi vua Giosias thực hiện cuộc cải cách tôn giáo. Khi đó nước Do thái đang ở trong một tình trạng tồi tệ : bên trong thì đạo đức suy dồi, bên ngoài thì họa xâm lăng đang rình sẵn. Mặc dù vậy, Xôphônia vẫn kêu gọi dân chúng hãy vui lên, lý do là "Án lệnh phạt ngươi Thiên Chúa đã rút lại, và thù địch của ngươi Ngài đã đẩy lùi xa".
ĐÁP CA: “HÃY VUI MỪNG VÀ HÃY CA NGỢI, VÌ Ở GIỮA NGƯƠI CÓ ĐẤNG THÁNH CỦA ISRAEN THẬT CAO VỜI”
BÀI ĐỌC 2: Pl 4,4-7 Thánh Phaolô kêu gọi tín hữu Philipphê hãy vui và vui luôn mãi trong niềm vui của Chúa. Niềm vui này không chỉ là một tình cảm, nhưng phát sinh những hoa trái cụ thể trong cuộc sống : (1) sống hiền hòa rộng rãi với mọi người ; (2) Không phải lo lắng gì cả, vì có gì thì cứ trình bày với Chúa ; (3) Lòng trí luôn được bình an.
TUNG HÔ TIN MỪNG: Alleluia, Alleluia...Thánh Thần Chúa ngự trên tôi. Người đã sai tôi đem tin mừng cho người nghèo khó! Alleluia.
PHÚC ÂM: Lc 3,10-18 Khi "dọn đường" tâm hồn cho các thính giả nghe Gioan giảng, ông đã nói "Hãy sám hối". Người ta hỏi lại "Vậy chúng tôi phải làm gì ?". Và Gioan đã chỉ cho họ những việc cụ thể phù hợp với tình trạng cuộc sống của họ: - Người có thì hãy chia sớt cho kẻ không có. - Người đang sống bằng những thu nhập bất công thì hãy cố gắng sống công bình. - Kẻ đang áp bức người khác thì chấm dứt những việc làm hà hiếp của mình. Gioan còn khiêm tốn phủ nhận những dư luận coi ông là chính Đấng Messia, và giới thiệu Đấng Messia thật cho họ biết.
SUY NIỆM: Dân chúng tuôn đến với Gioan và xin ông chỉ giáo cho phải làm gì để được đón nhận ơn cứu độ. Tôi phải làm gì? Ðó có phải là câu hỏi luôn cật vấn tôi không? Tôi có luôn trở về với lòng mình để tự kiểm điểm trước những hành động của mình không? Tôi có áy náy trước điều không được làm mà tôi cứ làm không? Tôi có lo toan trước việc phải làm mà tôi chưa làm không? Phải luôn tự hỏi mình: Tôi phải làm gì để được đón nhận Tin Mừng.
Lạy Chúa Giêsu, như Gioan hướng dẫn từng giới để biết chu toàn nhiệm vụ của mình và sống tương quan tốt với tha nhân. Ngày nay Lời Chúa cũng luôn hối thúc trong lương tâm chúng con, trong Kinh Thánh mà chúng con suy niệm hằng ngày. Xin cho chúng con biết lắng nghe và đón nhận Lời Chúa. Amen.
