Gloria

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King, O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.. Amen.

During this time of uncertainty and current health concerns, know that you are not required to come up to receive Communion.

Our Lord is always with us and we can all participate in an Act of Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You

are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things,

and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally,

come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You.

Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

WELCOME TO ST. THERESA AND ST. CHRISTOPHER PARISHES WORSHIP AIDS

PARISH WEBSITE:WWW.SSTANDCTIVERTON.ORG

Reading 1ACTS 2:1-11 When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. Now there were devout Jews from every na-tion under heaven staying in Jerusalem. At this sound, they gathered in a large crowd, but they were confused because each one heard them speaking in his own language. They were astounded, and in amazement they asked, “Are not all these people who are speaking Galile-ans? Then how does each of us hear them in his native lan-guage? We are Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya near Cyrene, as well as travelers from Rome, both Jews and converts to Juda-ism, Cretans and Arabs, yet we hear them speaking in our own tongues of the mighty acts of God.”

Responsorial Psalm Lord, Send Out Your Spirit, and Renew the Face of the Earth

Reading 21 COR 12:3B-7, 12-13 Brothers and sisters: No one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit. As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit.

Gospel JN 20:19-23 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.” When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.”

Opening Hymn: Send Us Your Spirit Refrain: Come Lord Jesus, send us your Spirit. Renew the face of the earth. Come Lord Jesus. send us your Spirit. Renew the face of the earth.

Come to us, Spirit of God. Breathe in us now. We sing together. Spirit of hope and of light, be in our lives. Come to us, Spirit of God. (Refrain)

Offertory Hymn: By the Waking of Our Hearts Refrain: By the waking of our hearts, by the stirring of our souls, may the Spirit of God abide and bring us together in Christ.

Come, O Spirit, from above, come from your celestial heights. Come with your blessed light so radiant bright. (Refrain)

Communion Hymn: Spirit and Grace Spirit and grace, here in this meal; you are the wind that breathe through the field. Gather the wheat and form us in Christ. Come be our source and breath of life. Refrain: in the bread, blessed, broken and shared, Christ is our life, whose presents we bear. Come, oh spirit, make your grace revealed in this holy meal.

Recessional Hymn: One Spirit, One Church Refrain: We are a pilgrim people, we are the church of God. A family of believers, disciples of the Lord. United in one spirit, ignited by the fire. Still burning through the ages, still present in our lives.

Come, Holy Ghost, Creator blessed, and in our hearts take up the rest; come with the grace and heavenly aid to fill the hearts which thou hast made.

Pentecost Sunday ~ May 31, 2020 ~

TO RECEIVE COMMUNION

For the distribution of Holy Communion, remember to wear your face mask. You will first receive in the hand only, step to the side, move your facemask aside to consume the host then replace the Mass while returning to your seat.

A new pattern of approaching the Altar is configured to better allow for proper distancing. As of now, we will continue to approach the Altar by way of the MAIN AISLE ONLY and return to the pew by means of the side aisles.

Holy Communion may not be distributed with gloves, nor may it be received in the hand if someone is wearing a glove. Instead, proper, and diligent hand hygiene should be observed before and after receiving Holy Communion. Receiving of the Host will be in the hand only. To the extent possible, those in line for Holy Communion should maintain a 6-foot distance between each other.

Please note: You are not required to come up to receive Communion. Our Lord is always with us and we can all participate in an Act of Spiritual Communion.
