THANKS Class parties, excursions, Graduation, reports…this is an incredibly busy time in schools and I would like to take this opportunity to thank staff who have worked extremely hard this year under trying circumstances. While they have kept normalcy on the surface, they have been paddling very hard under the surface implementing new curriculum and assessment processes which are allowing us to improve the outcomes of all children. We have tracked each and every child very closely and congratulate both teachers and the children for their excellent progress this year. This has been supported of course not only by ES staff and office staff, who are the backbone of the school but also our extended school family…the parents who have worked either directly with the children or who have provided special events that have not only brought joy to the children but have also raised funds for the school upgrades – specifically the blinds and the technology equipment in 2019. A very sincere thanks to our community helpers…the parents, grandparents, past parents and our fabulous mentors who support us each and every day with smiles and love. We hope that you can all join us at the Helpers’ Morning Tea this coming Monday 16 th at 11am in the Library where we take this opportunity to formally thank you all.

From the Principal’s Desk

It is hard to believe that this is the final newsletter for the year and

that we have Carols in just two days’; time. The children have

prepared and learnt their lines and are looking forward to the night at

the Community Centre. Recalling one of the lines in the dialogue:

the system actually increasing feelings of wellbeing. So come along

and sing with us on this family event. We ask that children arrive by

6.25 and can be dressed in bright Christmas gear and ready to start

promptly at 6.30 pm.

Santa will arrive at about 7.30 with his sack of goodies and there will

be photo opportunities available in the sleigh.

THANKS

Class parties, excursions, Graduation, reports…this is an incredibly

busy time in schools and I would like to take this opportunity to thank

staff who have worked extremely hard this year under trying

circumstances. While they have kept normalcy on the surface, they

have been paddling very hard under the surface implementing new

curriculum and assessment processes which are allowing us to

improve the outcomes of all children. We have tracked each and

every child very closely and congratulate both teachers and the

children for their excellent progress this year. This has been

supported of course not only by ES staff and office staff, who are the

parents who have worked either directly with the children or who

each and every day with smiles and love. We hope that you can all

join us at the Helpers’ Morning Tea this coming Monday 16th at 11am

PRINCIPAL’S REPORT CONT.

INCLUSION WORKS

You will notice in the bundle of forms that will come home to you, that there is a form to give permission for Inclusion

Works to operate in the school. This group will be consulting with staff about ways that we can further engage your

children and ensure that we are catering even more for every child. While we know we do an excellent job, on our

continuous improvement path, we are looking to increase Student Voice by reaching each and every child in

meaningful ways. We look forward to this wonderful opportunity in 2020.

REFURBISHMENTS

We are hopeful that the relocatables will be completed by the end of the school year…and while we know this is an

incredibly busy time, if you have ANY spare time from now till when school returns, please let us know…many hands

make light work!

I will take this opportunity to farewell students and families leaving us and wish you all the very best and hope that

the whole school community has a fantastic, joyous and restful break. We look forward to greeting you again in

2020 for what is promising to be a fantastic year.

SCHOOL CAPTAIN’S REPORT

Hi Coldstream, it is your School Captains back with another report.

On Friday we had the Colour Run. It was really fun being sprayed with colourful chalk while running around and cooling down on icy-poles. Thank you to parent club for organising this fantastic event. On Tuesday, our senior students ran the school and taught all the classes. We had a great time and hope that our students did too. It was a really interesting experience. Coming up we have our Christmas Carols night on the 13th of December. All of our school is working hard to perfect our singing and it will be a great night. Thanks for reading Taylah Mae and Tyler

PARENT CLUB NEWS

We had a fabulous day for our Colour Run event. Thank you to all the students and families that helped to raise $1200 for our school. This money will be put towards more much needed blinds around the school. So far the blinds we have purchased have made a huge difference in the classrooms and around the school. Thank you to those parents who came up to assist on the day. Your time is much appreciated. A huge thank you to Carly Ellicott. Carly organized and set up this whole event for us to enjoy. Job well done! Parent Club is made up of a small group of people who help to organize events that are not only enjoyed by our children, but also bring in much needed funds for our school. Everyone has a part to play, whether big or small, but none of these events would happen if it weren't for those parents who volunteered some of their time to assist on the day or coordinate the activity. Thank you all very much. Thank you also to the teachers and staff for on occasion, allowing us to interrupt your class time and for your ongoing support of our activities. Thank you Janet for all the time you give to assist Parent Club with your wonderful office skills and knowledge. Finally, thank you to all the families for your donations and support of all our activities throughout the year. Wishing you all a safe and very Merry Christmas. Emily Matthews

SCHOOL COUNCIL PRESIDENT’S REPORT –

I would like to wish everybody a safe and Merry Christmas. Thank you to all the staff and School Council for all your support and hard work you have put in this year. Looking forward to what 2020 brings us. Kelly Borg

Fantastic effort by all the grades at

returning their books on the first day of

the stocktake. It certainly makes it

easier.

The biggest thank you goes to grade 34

who consistently returned or re-

borrowed every week this term with no

overdues. They were also the first grade

to return ALL their books (students and

teacher). WELL DONE!

For those who still have overdues,

please return them to your class ASAP.

Thank you.

First Aid in Schools On the 25th of November a lady came to our school to talk to us about

first aid.

We went through a slide that talked a bit about first aid.

On the slide it went through every step of what to do if there is an

emergency from how to get into a phone with a passcode, to what to do

when skilled people turn up.

When we had finished the slide we did CPR on the mannequins.

It was really good to learn CPR but I hope never have to use it.

We talked about lots of different things you do when doing first aid.

I really liked doing first aid.

Outdoor Classroom Day

On the 22nd of November 2019, we had an outdoor classroom day. It was really fun; we were outside almost all day.

At the start of the day we did some reading, we sat at the playground. I was sitting on the monkey bars and it was freezing up there.

For the second session we did maths. We used a compass to direct our partner. My partner was Lily and I made her bump into

things. Then we had recess.

After recess we went to the Reserve and did some writing, my story was The Crazy Heatwave.

For the second session we made art with nature. After that we had lunch.

For the last session we stayed inside.
