The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ ~ June 14, 2020
The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ | June 14, 2020 | Page 2
From the Desk of Father Willie...
This weekend’s celebration of the Solemnity of the Body and
Blood of Christ, known still by many as Corpus Christi is a time
for us all to remember that the Eucharist is a gift to be
treasured and never taken for granted. This past year, for the
first time for many, the effects of the coronavirus pandemic
included keeping us from joining together for Eucharist on
a regular basis. Now, as the situation begins to ease a bit,
some of us are able to resume this sacred practice.
To receive Eucharist is a blessing that strengthens us and gives us hope, even when
we are in ill health, alone, confused, and anxious.
We continue to welcome those who, at this point, feel comfortable making their way
back to Mass. We pray for those who are elderly, ill, and vulnerable in any way to the
virus and have chosen to remain at home for the time being. Remember, the
“obligation” to attend Sunday Mass is still waived by Bishop Malesic who cares
deeply for us all. Please do not feel guilty if you are not able to join us in person.
God is loving and very patient.
On these beautiful Summer days, may we all give thanks to
God for giving us His Son’s Body and Blood to nourish us
and sustain us on our incredible journey of faith.
God bless!
- Father Willie
P.S.
Please note that we will be repeating important parish information in our bulletin for
multiple weeks so that we might get that news to as many parishioners as possible
since everyone is not on the same “return to Mass” schedule. Be sure to re-read
these articles so that in case some details happen to change, you will be up to date.
Thanks so much!

They recognized Him in the breaking of
bread. This was the amazing revelation or
epiphany that occurred on the Road to
Emmaus. Bread that had been transformed
into the Body of Christ opened the eyes of
the disciples and showed them who was
really with them. Their hearts were burning.
Sometimes we struggle with our belief in the
Eucharist because we make it too much of
an intellectual challenge. If God’s divinity
was wed to humanity in the incarnation of
Christ, then why is it not possible for God to
take simple elements of bread and wine and
transform them into his Body and Blood?
Affirm your faith today that the Eucharist
you receive is God Himself. Become what
you eat and allow God to embrace your soul
and touch that part of you that no one else
can touch.
Please be aware this is a tentative schedule, however last minute
changes are possible due to unforeseen COVID-19 circumstances.
Please remember in your prayers
the soul of Steve Pityk, former Business
Manager at Saint Mary, Kittanning who
passed away last week. May God grant
him eternal rest and peace.

This is a copy of the letter sent to our parishioners last week.
We ask our friends and neighbors and even our parishioners to read this information,
if you have not done so yet.
June 3, 2020 Dear Parishioners, Friends, and Neighbors, In just a few days we will begin to journey back to what we may call a “new normal” way of living out parish life, liturgy, and ministry. On Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, 2020, we return to our normal Mass schedule in both Kittanning and Yatesboro. Bishop Malesic has asked all priests in our Diocese to reiterate to our parishioners that at this point in time, the obligation to participate in Sunday Mass is STILL waived. If you are elderly or if you have any conditions that might make you more susceptible to contract coronavirus, or if you care for or are in contact with vulnerable persons, please consider waiting to return to the practice of attending weekend Mass. Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of each of you so please do not feel any guilt or regret for not being able to make your way to weekend Mass yet. We ask that you review the enclosed information card and if you have questions, please do not hesitate to be in touch for clarifications. This card may be placed on your refrigerator, positioned on the visor of your car, or carried with you in your pocket or purse. Extra copies are available for you at the entrances of our Churches. Please feel free to take as many copies as needed for family members or friends. Your patience is greatly appreciated as we strive to do the best we can to make a smooth transition into new ways of doing familiar things. Your flexibility is also valued since we may not become aware of a new request of our bishop or of the CDC, PA Department of Health, or other civic entity because of a late breaking development. May God bless you and your loved ones and keep us all in good health. May God reward you for your faithfulness and generosity in these days of uncertainty. May God embrace you in the palm of His hand and give you strength to go forward and live the Gospel. With our prayers and gratitude, we remain,
Father Willie and Father Victor Father William Lechnar, Pastor Father Victor Baguna, Administrator

Guidelines for Attending Masses at
Saint Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe, Kittanning
and
Saint Mary, Mother of God, Yatesboro
+ Please use hand sanitizer upon entering Church. Dispensers will be available at designated Church entrances.
+ Holy Water fonts have been emptied for now. Small bottles of Holy Water are available (1 per household please) at our Church entrances and may be refilled and blessed by any priest or deacon as often as necessary.
+ Masks are to be worn at all times when in Church except during final moments when approaching to receive Holy Communion.
+ When seated, be sure to maintain a distance of 6 feet from another party that may be in the same row of seating.
(Those who live in the same household may sit at a closer distance to one other.)
+ Please do not move tape/rope placed to designate seating areas.
+ Out of concern for all parties, please plan to receive Holy Communion in the hand.
+ For now, at the Sign of Peace, PLEASE do not shake hands with those around you. A reverential nod of the head or bow will acknowledge those nearby.
+ For your safety and that of others, when departing Mass, remember, for the time being, to leave directly and do NOT remain gathered in the Church, Narthex, or outdoor areas.
+ Temporarily, the only available restrooms are those located on the main level at our Church entrances. Restrooms in the lower level of our Churches will be closed.
+ If you are elderly, have a physical condition that might make you more susceptible to illness, or care for someone who might be vulnerable to disease, please remember that attending Mass at this time is not obligatory. Being safe is of the greatest importance.
Important Notes from the Desks of Father Willie and Father Victor...
Holy Water
In order to alleviate the possible spread of the Coronavirus, our Holy Water fonts, and Baptismal Font have temporarily been drained.
So that you might continue to make use of this great sacramental, Holy Water is available to you and your loved ones in our Churches. You will find Holy Water bottles in baskets at the entrance / exit areas in our Churches.
We ask that you take one Holy Water bottle per household. Please know that you are free to refill your bottle with water and simply ask Father Willie, Father Victor, or any other priest or deacon to bless that new supply of water at any time.
The bottles are small enough to easily fit in your pocket or purse. Because of this, you might even want to bring you own bottle with you when you come to Church and bless yourself when entering or leaving as you might be in the practice of doing.
Social Distancing and Masks
Bishop Malesic has asked every parish in our Diocese to commit to follow local, state, and CDC guidelines. Masks are to be worn when in Church or when near others and social distancing of a minimum of 6 feet is to be observed. Instructions will be given at key times at Mass so that all present will be aware of and reminded of important information.
When you are approaching to receive Holy Communion, wear a mask and keep an appropriate distance from others. There is no need to rush.
Cleaning and Sanitizing
Our Churches, Halls, Offices, and other public areas have all been thoroughly “deep cleaned” in preparation for these days of transition. We thank our Plant Managers, Maintenance Staff Members, Sacristans and other volunteers who are following CDC requirements for Covid-19 sanitization. Thanks to one and all for their hard work and dedication!
Liturgy and Music
Because singing increases the number of “microdroplets” that can be generated by the singer, and because singing also can spread those droplets over longer distances, we will, temporarily, be limiting the singing at our weekend Masses to an entrance hymn, the Responsorial Psalm, the Communion processional, and selected Mass parts. Instrumental accompaniment will be the norm for the Offertory and the Recessional. We thank all of our music ministers for sharing their talents with our faith communities.
Until those attending Masses have become accustomed to some of our new practices, directions will be given during times of worship to help keep liturgical movements running smoothly. Please be sure to ask any questions of our Hospitality Team members if you need to have directions repeated or clarified. As we have explained in the past weeks, some of our new practices might be modified as we move forward week to week, There is no “handbook” that we are following, rather, we are doing our best to adhere to the plans established by Bishop Malesic in conjunction with other bishops from across Pennsylvania.
Offertory Collection
We continue to be very grateful for your generosity in the past, and now, even more, we appreciate your generosity in these difficult times. Before being seated for Mass by a member of our Hospitality Ministry Team, we invite you to drop your donation in either the weekly offertory donation (loose cash or envelopes) or in one of the designated special collections in the baskets that will be provided. The baskets will be labeled accordingly. Thanks so much!
Restrooms
In order to assist in the ongoing sanitation and cleaning of our Churches, only the restrooms in the Narthex of each Church will be available for use. Thanks for helping our maintenance teams by trying to keep the restrooms in order so that their sanitizing process is quick and easy.
