Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD)
Next weekend we take a collection for CCHD, which was started by Brooklyn’s own Bishop Mugavero in 1970 as a national anti-poverty cam-paign and which today continues to bring to life Pope Francis’ vision by supporting programs for those living and working on the margins here in the United States. Last year $345,000 was given to eight service organizations in the Brooklyn/ Queens diocese working with former prisoners, immigrants and those seeking employment. Pope Francis inspires us to joyfully and creatively bring the Good News to the poor. Continue the Walk with Francis and be as generous as possible in next week’s collection. Thank you.

OLQM Single Adults Group Celebrates 15th Anniversary One of the most active social groups at the parish gathered for a potluck party at the rectory on October 24. Over these years, many lasting friendships have been formed at church meetings, over meals or while visiting museums and cultural events in the NYC area. Members lend extra special support to one another and always welcome newcom-ers. If interested in their monthly activities calendar, call their hotline (718-361-3201) or visit their page on our parish website (under Ministries/Social menu).

Prayers for the Faithful Departed
During November we remember those who have gone before us in faith. At this time, we pray for our own be-loved family members who have died and re-member those who have no one to pray for them. November is also a time to visit the graves of our loved ones and pray for them at the site of their #of Catholic Cemeteries encourages each of us to pre-plan our own funeral and can assist in choos-ing a gravesite or crypt where we would like to be buried. You can con-tact Catholic Cemeteries at 718-894-4888 online: www.ccbklyn.org.
Cremated RemainsNovember is also a time to remember that the cre-mains of our loved ones place. The U.S. Confer-ence of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) advises that cre-mated remains of a body
should be treated with the same respect given to the human body from which they come—from the use of a worthy vessel to con-tain the ashes, the manner in which they are carried, the care and attention to appropriate placement -nal disposition. Cremated remains should be buried in a grave or entombed in a mauso-leum or columbarium. The practice of scatter-ing cremated remains on the sea, from the air, or on the ground, or keep-ing cremated remains in the home of a relative or friend of the deceased, are not the reverent dis-position that the Church requires.
Let eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let per-petual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace; may they and all the faithful de-parted, rest in peace. Amen.
~Generations of Faith~Some of you may have heard already about a diocesan-wide capital and endowment campaign, announced by Bishop DiMarzio in the name of the Diocese of Brook-lyn and in partnership with the Catholic Foundation for Brooklyn and Queens. The campaign called Generations of Faith will attempt to strengthen the future vitality of the Catholic community and help our parishes with much-needed deferred maintenance projects. During the coming months, we will be sharing more details about the campaign and our parish participa-tion. We ask that you pray for the success of the campaign in our parish and the parishes throughout our diocese. God bless you!—# $% &' &!*
