HOLY TRINITY SCRIP PROGRAM

SCHOOL NEWS Our Blessings: We welcome back Sr. Andrene Flasch this fall. Sr. Andrene is another member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity from Manitowoc. For many years, Sister Andrene minis-tered in various schools teaching primary grades, with a special passion for teaching reading. She returns for a second year volunteering her services as she enjoys helping students grow in their reading skills. We really enjoy having her with us! Our days are full, everyone is busy, and the time flies! However, it is so important to treasure the special moments. When a student is new, the adjustment to the schedule, the routines, and the expecta-tions can be overwhelming. It's been heartwarming to witness fellow classmates who have taken the time to not only help our new stu-dents but also become a friend. They have shown them where to find the Art room, how to clean up from lunch, and help with riding and switching buses. Sometimes these tasks were accomplished by set-ting the example or giving a gentle nudge. Other times it could only be accomplished hand-in-hand. What a great example from some of our youngest learners! Our Annual Fall Pizza Sale will kickoff Wednesday, September 20. Watch for order forms at the back of church or contact the school office if you wish to place an order. Orders will be accepted through Wednesday, October 4 with pick up scheduled for November 2. Proceeds will support classroom and teacher purchases and ac-tivities throughout the year. Thank you for supporting SGS!

Fr. Pat’s Corner……. “Forgive your neighbor’s injustice; for then when you pray, your own sins will be forgiven. Could anyone nourish anger against another and expect

healing from the LORD? Could anyone refuse mercy to another like himself, and then, seek pardon for his own sins?” (Sirach 28;2-4)

LOVE BEGINS WITH FORGIVENESS

This passage comes from one of the books of the Old Testa-ment that was written about 175 years before the birth of Christ. It was a book used for teaching morality lessons. So, it was a kind of early textbook. The author is a man named “Jesus”, as we read in the last page of the Book of Sirach: (he writes….)

“Wise instruction, appropriate proverbs, I have writ-ten in this book—I, Jesus (Joshua, in Hebrew), son of Eleazar, son of Sirach—as they poured forth from my heart’s understanding. Happy are those who meditate upon these things; the wise are those who take them to heart!”

The need to forgive others before asking God for forgiveness is an ancient wisdom. And we see that the name “Jesus” was a common name too. (another piece of wisdom) The name Jesus means “he saves us”. The warrior who lead the Israelites after Moses died was Joshua. He saved the Israelites from destruction in battle against the Philistines and others. Joshua saved others and Sirach comes into history with a book of wisdom from his father = Jesus (or Yeshua).

The moral righteousness of those who forgive is an authority that comes from the wisdom one who wishes to save. Save a friendship, save a marriage, save a nation….. from hate and violence. All through the healing power of forgiveness are peo-ple restored to friendship and peaceful co-existence.

Take a lesson in morality from Sirach, son of Jesus (Yeshua). Could anyone refuse mercy to one who forgives? God will not refuse them and humanity will be better because of them. Those who forgive!

As Aaron Rogers says: “Forgiveness!, … Let’s get after it”

May Our Savior bless you, -Fr. Pat
