It has gone by very quickly. Thank you for your faithful- ness, your joy, and hospitality this past year. It has been a joy to be with you all at Mass. I will especially miss working with the youth group and Confirmation students. In about two weeks, I will be ordained a priest, and will begin to work at Bishop Machebeuf High School as the chaplain. I am very excited to begin this new ministry as a priest, but I am sad to leave the great community of St. Pius. Feel free to come to the Cathedral for the Ordination Mass on Saturday, May 14 th at 10 am. You will want to arrive early – 7 of us will be ordained and many people are expected to come. My vocation started in high school when people began to tell me at my parish and at my Catholic high school that they could see in me this vocation. I would have never considered the call, thinking I am not worthy, strong enough, talented enough, or holy enough to be a priest. But because so many suggested it to me, I be- gan to open to the idea. I remember hearing the call in prayer from the Lord when I was 18 years old, before going off to college. Thirteen years later that call is bearing fruition. It has been a long journey, but a blessed one, where I have come to trust the Lord with everything. To all the adults, continue to tell young people what you see in them that would make a great priest or nun. To all young people, be open to the plans the Lord has for you. A bishop told me once, “Pray everyday for a year this brief prayer ‘Lord, whatever your plan for my life is, I just want to say yes to your call!’” Pray, and be not afraid to follow Christ with everything! I can hon- estly say I have never been more excited for anything in my life as I am for my ordination. And I can say I wouldn’t have chosen this for myself, but saying yes to the Lord and his plan for my life has been the greatest blessing in my life. Be not afraid! Jesus gives you everything and takes away nothing. Thank you for your prayers and support. In Christ Jesus, Deacon James Claver or Rev. SCHOOL NEWS

THE PATH TO THE NEW EVANGELIZATION

Our 8th graders recently attended the annual Chastity Rally at Holy Family High School. They were able to hear from three world-renowned chastity speakers: Jason Evert, Crystalina Evert, and Chris Stefanick. The stu-dents had a fun day and heard many valuable messages about God’s plan for their lives! Please continue to pray for our 8th graders as they leave on Monday for their re-treat at Camp Santa Maria through the JPII Outdoor Lab. They will spend four days having a good time hik-ing, completing ropes courses, and having bonfires, but they will also spend time in prayer and learning about God’s creation!

First Reading — The question of whether circumcision is necessary for salvation (Acts 15:1-2, 22-29). Psalm — O God, let all the nations praise you! (Psalm 67). Second Reading — John envisions the holy city, the new Jerusalem (Revelation 21:10-14, 22-23) or Revelation 22:12-14, 16-17, 20. Gospel — The Holy Spirit, sent by the Father in Jesus’ name, will teach us everything (John 14:23-29) or John 17:20-26.

“Reverend Mother was very dear to me, like a beloved grandmother. Fr. Ken Brighenti and I anointed her last December for our most recent taping of WEB OF FAITH 2.0….Mother was a visionary, a pioneer, a maverick, an RN (real nun), a very dear friend and a very holy and de-vout Catholic Christian. Foundress of Eternal Word Tele-vision (EWTN), Mother Angelica was like Christopher Columbus in that she was an explorer in a New World. While competing Catholic networks fizzled out quickly, EWTN has grown into the international and global media giant using cable and satellite television, broadcast and shortwave radio, internet and newspaper (The National Catholic Register). She made a few enemies, so did Christ. She also helped save many, many souls via EWTN.….I am morally certain she will be one day be canonized as well. Her perseverance in trial and tribula-tion are as encouraging as was JP2.”

3 Holy Giants: Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Pope St. John Paul the Great and Mother Angelica;

Fr. John Trigilio Jr.,www.courageousPriest.com

Christ has not called us to be casual Catholics; He has called us to be Catholics by conviction and action.

MARRIAGE & FAMILY MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER

Jesus worked his first public miracle at the wedding feast in Cana. Many believe this symbolizes the overabundance of grace Jesus gives to the couples in the sacrament of matrimony.
