It means that our hearts are in this liturgical encounter of the life and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. If we put our hearts in this worship of God our hearts are transformed. The Holy Spirit will transform us Sunday by Sunday. The Catholic Faith is all about this transformation until we reach the pattern that God designed for each of us individually. Why are there people who don't come to Church? They do not see the value. We have this call to bring the Church to them so that they will see the value of transformation. For all Catholics, the source of transformation is the Gospel and the constant presence of our Lord in the Eucharist. So, to be the Catholic, we should be seen as honest, hardworking, generous, loving, joyful, compassionate, temperate, humble, disciplined, prayerful and generally in love with life. This is what comes to us when we celebrate the life of Jesus and His sacrifice in the Church, because we become what we are celebrating. Parish Council Marina Zepeda—Chairman Chair. Francis Receives the Stigmata Throughout the years that followed his conversion and public commitment to the Gospel, Francis' life and attitude continued to change remarkably. More and more, his days were consumed in the ongoing experi-ence of deep spiritual union with God. During the Lent of 1224, two years before his death, his mind and heart turned frequently to meditate upon the suffering of Christ and His obedience to the Father. Retreating with Friar Leo into the wilderness, Francis agonized over the great pain that Jesus experienced and thanked our Lord for the supreme sacrifice that He had endured. On 14 September 1224, in the solitude of prayer on Mount Alverna, while praising God and pouring out his love for Him, Francis beheld the crucified Christ borne aloft by six angels. In this moment of seraphic ecstasy, he who had sought to imitate Christ in all things, received the marks of his Lord's crucifixion—the stigmata—on his hands, feet, and side. And so, when the world was growing cold, Christ renewed the marks of His passion in the flesh of Saint Francis to rekindle our love for God. By bearing the marks of the crucifixion in his body, Francis experienced an even deeper union with Jesus. God whom Francis had cherished as the Child of Bethlehem and as the Victim at Calvary, brought the Saint into more perfect conformity with His Son.
