How long have you been men-toring?
This is my 4th year mentoring. Why do you feel the mentor-
ing program is important?
I feel mentoring is importantbecause many children comefrom single parent homes or livewith other family members, be-sides Mom and Dad. Some kidstoday have to deal with adult problems at home and needextra encouragement. As a mentor, you can be their rolemodel and give them the support and help they need. Also, as a mother to 3 boys, who mentors a female stu-
dent I really enjoy that for 1 hour a week, I get girl time.We enjoy reading, playing games, doing puzzles andplaying ball in the gym during our time together! What would you say to someone who is thinking ofbecoming a mentor?
I would challenge everyone who has thought about men-toring to do it! It only takes an hour a week, but couldchange a child's life!
In addition to National MentoringMonth, we would also like to rec-ognize Churck Schmucker!

How long have you been men-toring?
I have been a mentor for 7 years,I am also currently on the BBBSBoard. Why do you feel the mentoringprogram is important?
The program ensures that for at least 1 hour each week child has the undivided attention of an adult to help witschool work, behavior and friendship.
What would you say to someone who is thinking ofbecoming a mentor?
I did not know what to expect when I became a Mentor but I am glad I decided to try it. It has benefitted my lifas well as the children I have spent time with.
