Fourth Sunday of Easter/Good Shepherd Sunday
Acts 4:8-12; Ps 118:1, 8-9, 21-23, 26, 28, 29; 1 Jn 3:1-2; Jn 10:11-18
This day, the Fourth Sunday of Easter, called “Good Shepherd Sunday”, invites us
each year to rediscover, with ever new astonishment, how Jesus defined himself, reading it again in the light of his passion, death and resurrection. “The good shepherd
lays down his life for the sheep” (Jn 10:11): these words are wholly fulfilled when
Christ, freely obeying the will of the Father, is immolated on the Cross. The significance that He is “the Good Shepherd” thus becomes completely clear: He gives
life, He offered his life in sacrifice for us all: for you, for you, for you, for me, for everyone! And for this reason He is the Good Shepherd!
In the figure of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, we contemplate the Providence of God, his paternal solicitude for each one of us. He does not leave us on our own! The result of this contemplation of Jesus the true and good Shepherd, is the exclamation of poignant astonishment that we find in the Second Reading of the day’s Liturgy: “See what love
the Father has given us...” (1 Jn 3:1). It is truly a surprising and mysterious love, for
by giving us Jesus as the Shepherd who gives his life for us, the Father has given us all of the greatest and most precious that He could give us. It is the purest and most sublime love, for it is not motivated by necessity, is not conditioned on accounting, is not attracted by a self-interested desire for exchange. Before this love of God, we feel immense joy and we open ourselves to recognizing how much we have freely received.
May Mary Most Holy obtain for me, for the bishops and for the priests of the entire world, the grace to serve the holy People of God through joyous preaching of the Gospel, heartfelt celebration of the Sacraments, and patient and gentle pastoral guidance.

The Archdiocese of Miami has robustly participated in the Unites States Conference
of Catholic Bishops’ Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People since
its inception over 15 years ago and has been in compliance every year. This can only
happen with the dedication of pastors, principals, directors and coordinators of
religious education, administration and staff in collaboration with parents and
volunteers.
Tips for Protecting Children and the Vulnerable
· People can be taught to identify grooming behavior. Grooming behaviors are the actions which abusers take to project the image that they are kind, generous, caring people, while their intent is to lure a minor into an inappropriate relationship. Offenders can be patient and may groom their victim, his or her family, or community for years.
· There are behavior warning signs of inappropriate behavior. Some abusers isolate a potential victim by giving him or her undue attention or lavish gifts, others allow young people to participate in activities which their parents or guardians would not approve, such as watching pornography, drinking alcohol, using drugs, and excessive toughing, such as wrestling and tickling.

Cuarto Domingo de Pascua/Domingo del Buen Pastor

El cuarto domingo de Pascua —éste—, llamado «domingo del Buen Pastor», cada año nos invita a redescubrir, con estupor siempre nuevo, esta definición que Jesús dio de sí mismo, releyéndola a la luz de su pasión, muerte y resurrección. «El buen Pastor da su vida por las ovejas» (Jn 10, 11): estas palabras se realizaron plenamente cuando Cristo, obedeciendo libremente a la voluntad del Padre, se inmoló en la Cruz. Entonces se vuelve completamente claro qué significa que Él es «el buen Pastor»: da la vida, ofreció su vida en sacrificio por todos nosotros: por ti, por ti, por ti, por mí ¡por todos! ¡Y por ello es el buen Pastor!
En la figura de Jesús, Pastor bueno, contemplamos a la Providencia de Dios, su solicitud paternal por cada uno de nosotros. ¡No nos deja solos! La consecuencia de esta contemplación de Jesús, Pastor verdadero y bueno, es la exclamación de conmovido estupor que encontramos en la segunda Lectura de la liturgia de hoy: «Mirad qué amor nos ha tenido el Padre...» (1 Jn 3, 1). Es verdaderamente un amor sorprendente y misterioso, porque donándonos a Jesús como Pastor que da la vida por nosotros, el Padre nos ha dado lo más grande y precioso que nos podía donar. Es el amor más alto y más puro, porque no está motivado por ninguna necesidad, no está condicionado por ningún cálculo, no está atraído por ningún interesado deseo de intercambio. Ante este amor de Dios, experimentamos una alegría inmensa y nos abrimos al reconocimiento por lo que hemos recibido gratuitamente.
Que María Santísima obtenga para mí, para los obispos y para los sacerdotes de todo el mundo la gracia de servir al pueblo santo de Dios mediante la alegre predicación del Evangelio, la sentida celebración de los Sacramentos y la paciente y mansa guía pastoral.

· A las personas se les puede enseñar a identificar el comportamiento de captación de menores, las artimañas de los abusadores para proyectar una imagen de personas amables, generosas y afectuosas, cuando su intención es engañar a un menor para llevarlo a una relación inapropiada. Los criminales pueden tener paciencia y preparar a su víctima, a la familia o a la comunidad durante años.
· El comportamiento inapropiado presenta señales de aviso. Algunos abusadores aíslan a una posible víctima prestándole atención indebida o con obsequios espléndidos; otros permiten que los jóvenes participen en actividades que sus padres o tutores no aprobarían, como ver pornografía, beber alcohol, consumir drogas y tocar en exceso, como luchar y hacer cosquillas.
