culpa no será conocida.

The word of God came to us in human form in Jesus Christ. Every time I contemplate this fact, I get chills! As the first disciples lis-tened to the word of God, who was and is Je-sus, they believed and “beheld His glory.” Jesus is every bit as real and alive for all of us as He was to the first disciples. He wants us to develop a close relationship with Him in the very same way. Jesus wants us to know Him personally. He wants us to walk with Him and talk with Him on a daily basis. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

Psalm 36 Sin directs the heart of the wicked man; his
eyes are closed to the fear of God. For he lives with delusion that his guilt will not be known. False are the words of his mouth; he has ceased to do good. He hatches plots; he
does not reject evil. How precious is your mercy, O God! Show
mercy on those who know you, do not let the foot of the proud overtake me, there make
the evildoers fall; thrust them down, unable to rise.

Hear us, O God, as we ceaselessly pray for the end to abortion and pray to cleanse the hearts of those who plot and set out to do evil.
Until all are welcomed in life and protected in law.

Third Sunday of Lent
GOSPEL MEDITATION - ENCOURAGE DEEPER UNDERSTANDING OF SCRIPTURE
March 24, 2019 - Third Sunday of Lent "There once was a person who had a fig tree
planted in his orchard, and when he came in search of fruit on it [he] found none." We live in a results-driven society. It can be easy to put pressure on ourselves to succeed. If we're not keeping up with the perceived "good life" of those around us, we feel anxious and disappointed. Some of the Gospel sto-ries about fruitfulness can seem to play out in this fashion. "For three years now I have come in search of fruit on this fig tree but have found none. So cut it down." The message seems to be clear. Abide in God and bear fruit! Stand apart from God and be barren. But what happens when we're trying, but the growth we wanted doesn't seem to be coming our way? What if it feels like life just isn't bearing fruit?
This Sunday, Jesus gives us a sign of hope. "[The gardener] said to him in reply, 'Sir, leave it for this year also ? it may bear fruit in the future." How quick we can be to judge! Perhaps you started out Lent with high hopes and big ideas for getting closer to God. Maybe things haven't gone exactly like you thought. It can be easy to lose patience with our failures or slow growth. We shouldn't be too quick to assume that God has given up on us. He hasn't.
The same ideas apply to those around us. Perhaps we're the planter of the fig tree. We expect a certain amount of growth from someone in our life, and they just aren't measuring up. Let today's Gospel be a gentle nudge for mercy. As Lent continues to un-fold, be patient with yourself and those around you. Wait for God to provide the growth.

March 24: Third Sunday of Lent In today’s Gospel Jesus is quite clear in his message: “bear fruit or be cut down.” This Lent we are called to cultivate and fertilize our spiritual lives through prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
Through your almsgiving you are performing a good work; far greater than you think. Know that your nickel, dime or quarter is multiplied by the coins place by others in the St.Vincent de Paul Poor Box.
Is God is calling you to join the Society of St. Vincent de Paul?

WHY DO WE DO THAT? -
CATHOLIC LIFE EXPLAINED
Question: Our Catholic grade school is doing a pen-
ance service this Lent. Do young children really need to go to Confession? How much sin can they really have? Answer:
Ask any mom about her children, and see how many would say she has a brood of perfect angels! Parents know that kids do things that are wrong ? and they often know they're doing it! Even toddlers have a sense of right and wrong. The Church rec-ognizes that their minds and consciences are not yet fully developed, however, and typically waits until age seven to offer the sacrament of Confession. Around that age and beyond, most young people, when asked, can easily explain why something is wrong.
Confession for children is an excellent way to help them reflect on their actions and accept responsibility for their behavior. It helps them to grow in their understand-ing of sin and how it affects others. This helps them to form their consciences and make better choices in the future. Most im-portantly, they learn the value of for-giveness, both given and received. Rather than singling out what's wrong, Confession offers hope and a new start! Children can grow in understanding God's unconditional love and develop a sense of inner dignity that transcends their failings. Not bad for five minutes and an "Our Father" or two!
