4° Domingo de Adviento 4th Sunday of Advent December 23rd, 2018 Dear Family, The Birth of Jesus is now imminent. The tension around it is like that of a woman awaiting the birth of her child. There is expectation and joy. In a couple of days, we will be celebrating that great event of our Salvation. Mary is the focus on this Fourth Sunday of Advent. We can see in Lukes Gospel, at this early stage before Jesusbirth in Bethlehem, a whole plan unfold- ing. This is a real plan for our own lives. We are presented with the humility of the mother Mary, and her Son Jesus. It is they, who go to visit, and not they who are visited. There is no question of the trip that Mary takes; it is one of service. Even before He is born, Jesus already comes to serve, not to be served. It is through His service that we will recog- nize Him as Lord, God, and Savior. Later on, in the Gospel of John, He will tell His disciples as He washes their feet, to go and do the same; serve one another. Jesus does all this for us and He invites us to join Him when responds to the Father: Here I am! I come to do your will.It is a bold statement on our part, but is one which God Himself will help us to fulfill. Mary herself has already followed her Son, though He is not yet born. When asked as an unmarried virgin, if she is willing to be the mother of Jesus, and assured that, with God, all things are possible, she has already said her flat: Yes! Mary says, let all this happen to me as you have planned it. At this stage, she has no idea what is in store, but she has said her Yes and she will be faithful to it. Reflecting on this, have we said Yes to the Lords will for our lives? To discipleship? To living authentic lives for Christ? Contemplating the meaning of Christmas, through the experiences of Jesus and Mary, we learn from them how to say an unqual- ified and unconditional Yes. In this way, we discover where the real joy and happiness of Christmas lies. Otherwise it can re- main a hollow Christmas. Let it be one full of Joy and Blessings! There are plenty of opportunities to get to Holy Mass on the Solemnity of Our Lords Nativity. Please see the schedule and find one that is convenient for you and your family. May you all be filled with the grace and joy of this most Holy Season of Christmas! On behalf of the clergy, staff, and myself, we wish you and yours a most blessed Christmas! May He who is born to us, draw you to Himself! God bless you! Thats all for now! Have a blessed Christmas season! In His Joy, Fr. Leon

Dear Family,

The Birth of Jesus is now imminent. The tension around it is like that of a woman awaiting the birth of

her child. There is expectation and joy. In a couple of days, we will be celebrating that great event of

our Salvation. Mary is the focus on this Fourth Sunday of Advent.

We can see in Luke’s Gospel, at this early stage before Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem, a whole plan unfold-

ing. This is a real plan for our own lives. We are presented with the humility of the mother Mary, and

her Son Jesus. It is they, who go to visit, and not they who are visited. There is no question of the trip that Mary takes; it is one

of service. Even before He is born, Jesus already comes to serve, not to be served. It is through His service that we will recog-

nize Him as Lord, God, and Savior. Later on, in the Gospel of John, He will tell His disciples as He washes their feet, to go and

do the same; serve one another. Jesus does all this for us and He invites us to join Him when responds to the Father: “Here I am!

I come to do your will.” It is a bold statement on our part, but is one which God Himself will help us to fulfill.

Mary herself has already followed her Son, though He is not yet born. When asked as an unmarried virgin, if she is willing to be

the mother of Jesus, and assured that, with God, all things are possible, she has already said her flat: Yes! Mary says, let all this

happen to me as you have planned it. At this stage, she has no idea what is in store, but she has said her Yes and she will be

faithful to it. Reflecting on this, have we said Yes to the Lord’s will for our lives? To discipleship? To living authentic lives for

Christ?

Contemplating the meaning of Christmas, through the experiences of Jesus and Mary, we learn from them how to say an unqual-

ified and unconditional Yes. In this way, we discover where the real joy and happiness of Christmas lies. Otherwise it can re-

main a hollow Christmas. Let it be one full of Joy and Blessings!

There are plenty of opportunities to get to Holy Mass on the Solemnity of Our Lord’s Nativity. Please see the schedule and find

one that is convenient for you and your family.

May you all be filled with the grace and joy of this most Holy Season of Christmas! On behalf of the clergy, staff, and myself,

we wish you and yours a most blessed Christmas! May He who is born to us, draw you to Himself! God bless you!

That’s all for now! Have a blessed Christmas season!

In His Joy,

Fr. Leon †
