Firstly my apologies for not responding and passing our thanks on straight away, my wife went in for surgery so a little preoccupied! From the Board and myself I wanted to thank The Gentlemen of The Chorus for an outstanding evening. A great audience pleaser, an amazing gesture of generosity and an evening of talent and musical excellence. I could not have wished for more. A return visit is certainly on the cards in the future, if you are willing to come and I will now put my mind to making the event a packed one!

KEN LIBBY REMEMBERED by Dick Wheeler

Ken Libby died this past weekend in Kennebunk after a long illness. Ken was a strong, solid lead who joined the Kennebunk Chapter in the mid sixties. His quartet, THE SEAFARERS, were entertaining. The quartet included Bob Guptill, Bob Marier, and Phil Davis. Their most popular number was a song called "Dangerous Dan McGrew". It was a riot. When the Kennebunk Chapter broke up fifteen years later, Ken and many of the chapter joined the Downeasters. Ken sang with Bing Bayer, Mick Lary, and Lonnie Wescott in the OCEANAIRES. Among his survivors is his son-in-law, tenor Ray Houlden.

OLDE TYMERS EAT by Dick Wheeler

Twelve hungry barbershoppers convened at Pat's Pizza on the 14th for their third luncheon of the year. Those present were Marshall Wagner, Dave Burns, Larry Newth, Dave Sweet, Ray Houlden, Bud Mosley, Ted Brackett, Manen Clements, Jerry French, Carl Cappello, Wayne Newland, and Dick Wheeler. The final luncheon of the year will take place in October at a date as yet to be determined. Cy & Mike on Katahdin Mike and I were missing from rehearsal on Monday because we were in Millinocket getting ready to climb Katahdin on Tuesday. This climb was a goal that my wife, Gail set after she finished chemo and radiation treatments last year. This photo shows Mike and I at the summit. We had a request to sing on the way up and tried "Irish Rose". Pretty tough while hiking. The breathing plan went out the window. A second one is a great one of Mike surveying the world from his perch on Katahdin. Cy Kendrick
