U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance

Columbus, OH --(Ammoland.com)- A bill introduced this week in New

York would require sportsmen and gun owners to register their firearms

when purchasing “bullets.”

Senate Bill 4152, introduced by Senator Malcolm A. Smith, would require

sportsmen and gun owners to provide their full name, date of birth, and

address as well as the make, model, caliber and serial number of their

firearm on an “application” prior to purchasing “bullets.”

The bill uses the generic term “bullets” in place of a more accurate

description of the types of ammunition it seeks to restrict. It is unclear

what types of ammunition would be classified as “bullets” under this bill.

Furthermore, the “application” requirement seems to set up a dangerous

scenario where you would be required to register a firearm owned by

someone else under your own name if you simply borrowed the firearm

for a hunting trip or day at the range and needed to buy “bullets.”

“The proponents may term this an application to purchase

ammo, but gun owners know full well that this is nothing

more than a poorly disguised attempt to force gun

registration upon law-abiding New Yorkers,” said Evan

Heusinkveld, USSA director of state services.

“This bill starts out bad and just gets worse as it goes along.

New York sportsmen and gun owners alike should contact

their state senators today in opposition to this measure.”

The bill would also ban anyone under the age of 21 from purchasing

“bullets” and would require that purchasers show two forms of

identification. Additionally, the bill requires that the copies of the

“application” to be submitted to all law enforcement agencies across the

state. Not only is this unnecessary, it puts gun owner’s private

information at risk of being lost or stolen.

Take Action! New York sportsmen are encouraged to contact their

state senator’s today in opposition to Senate Bill 4152. To find your state

senator’s contact information, please visit the USSA Legislative Action

Center at www.ussportsmen.org/LAC.

access to a vast area of Game Management Unit 19B north of Prescott,

the Arizona Game and Fish Commission on March 23 decided to cancel

the pronghorn antelope hunt there prior to the big game draw for the

2011 season.

The commission’s decision affects the hunting prospects for 65 hunters

who would have received allocated tags.

Commission Chairman Robert Woodhouse said, “There have

been closures of other hunt units for a season or more based

on biological reasons such as severe winter die offs, loss of

habitat due to fires, etc. … but this was the first time a

decision was made to eliminate hunt tags due to public access

closures. This was a difficult decision made only after

extensive staff input and a long discussion by the

commission.”

During the discussion, commissioners pointed out that this was a “no-

win situation” for the commission, the department, and for the hunters

who applied for the general and archery pronghorn antelope hunts in

Unit 19B this fall, but the commission was compelled to do what was

most fair to all concerned.

Late last week, the property manager for the Chino Grande Ranch, which

is a checkerboard of private and state trust land parcels, verbally notified

the department that the ranch is now closed to public access, due to a

proposed renewable energy project. Access to other portions of the unit

has also become restricted, with some private lands being closed entirely

and other ranches allowing access by payment of “trespass” fees.

The Chino Grande Ranch contains a significant portion of the available

pronghorn habitat in 19B, and its lands also hold the greatest density of

pronghorn numbers in the unit.

The deadline to apply for the upcoming draw was Feb. 8 and the draw

results are pending, giving the commission only days to modify the

affected hunts without affecting thousands of other hunters.

There are 4,780 people who applied for the 65 pronghorn antelope hunt

permits in the two hunts (one general hunt and one archery hunt)

scheduled for 19B. Game Branch Chief Brian Wakeling said “the antelope

hunts in 19B are some of the most coveted in the state.”

The commission also considered reducing the number of permits in the

hunt but after significant discussion, the members felt that option would

do a disservice to those who applied, as the area left open for 2011 would

differ substantially from that available when hunters applied in

February.

With the elimination of these two hunts, the draw program will treat any

choice where these hunts were selected as if all tags had been issued and

move to the applicant’s next choice. The draw examines first and second

choices primarily and then third, fourth, and fifth choices secondarily.

The majority of the commissioners felt that to be the most equitable

approach.

The commission also expressed its desire to open up a dialogue on the

whole land access and wildlife availability issue with land management

agencies, county governments and stakeholders to include hunters,

anglers and other recreationists. At issue is access to public lands and

state trust lands and the management of public resources, such as

wildlife and fish.

The Arizona Game and Fish Department prohibits discrimination on the

basis of race, color, sex, national origin, age, or disability in its programs

and activities. If anyone believes that they have been discriminated

against in any of the AGFD’s programs or activities, including

employment practices, they may file a complaint with the Director’s

Office, 5000 W. Carefree Highway, Phoenix, AZ 85086-5000, (602) 942-

3000, or with the Fish and Wildlife Service, 4040 N. Fairfax Dr. Ste. 130,

Arlington, VA 22203. Persons with a disability may request a reasonable

accommodation or this document in an alternative format by contacting

the Director’s Office as listed above.

Anti-gun ObamaCare Celebrates One Year of Lies and Screw-

ups

Gun Owners of America

Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- Not since “Rosemary’s Baby” – a

ground-breaking film about the birth of the son of Satan – has a one-

year-old brought so much bad news during its first year of life.

But, believe it or not, ObamaCare turned one-year-old this week. And

what a year it’s been!

Remember the promises that ObamaCare would reduce the deficit? Well,

that didn’t happen.

Remember the promises that ObamaCare wouldn’t affect your gun rights

in any way? Well, the law will still compile all your health-related

medical records into a massive computer database, which the FBI will be

able to cull in order to determine whether you have a condition which

would justify a gun ban.

GOA has reported on people like Wayne Irelan, who returned from Iraq

with a Purple Heart and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. When his wife

took over the family’s finances, the VA began paying Sgt. Irelan a small

stipend.

The Veterans Administration then used this as a basis to define him as

“mentally incompetent” and stripped him of gun rights — just like the

other 150,000-plus veterans who have also been disarmed.

Remember the dismissive pronouncements concerning Constitution-

loving Americans who didn’t believe that Congress could force them to

buy health insurance? Now, 27 states (a majority) have obtained

judgments that ObamaCare is unconstitutional.

The Obama administration is going on a vitriolic attack against Supreme

Court Justice Clarence Thomas, whom it fears will be the deciding vote

to throw their legislative abomination into the garbage can of history.

But we can’t count on the Supreme Court to do the right thing. Not with

a court including Left-wing crazies like Sonya Sotomayor and Elena

Kagan, nor with a Senate contingent that was not willing to stand up to

them.

We have to INSIST that Congressmen who ran under the banner of

REPEALING AND REPLACING the health care law will actually vote to

defund ObamaCare on the next available spending bill.

ACTION: Contact your senators and representative. Insist that they

oppose any more “continuing resolutions” or other government spending

bills unless they defund ObamaCare.

as a volunteer for the St. Louis Ronald McDonald House. Corey

expressed an interest in becoming an Ambassador for SCTP because he

felt he wanted to “give something back” to the program that has done so

informing and educating people on the valuable life lessons he has

learned over the years through his involvement with SCTP.

“These are two outstanding young men,” said Russ Arnold,

Executive Director of SSSF, “and we are proud to have them

representing SCTP as Youth Ambassadors for the 2010-2011

shooting season. They exemplify what we as coaches and

Keith Warren Outdoors

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas --(Ammoland.com)- Host of the wildly

popular Deer & Wildlife Stories on the Pursuit Channel, Keith Warren

was a special guest speaker at the North American Deer Farmers

Association (NADeFA) Conference recently held in Nashville, Tenn.

Warren spoke during the conference’s Hunting Ranch Council seminar

and inspired deer farmers from across North America to be steadfast in

their commitment to the species and their industry.

“There are some very vocal opponents to agriculture and

outdoor pursuits in our society today, and they are working

hard to disrupt our way of life,” says Warren.

“But in the midst of this adversity, deer farming is one of the

fastest growing industries in rural America and it has saved

small family farms all across the country from financial ruin.

As more landowners dedicate themselves to the betterment of

whitetail deer, .we preserve more open space and all species

of animals benefit. With positive conservation and economic

impacts, deer farming is a win-win and it brings us all closer

to nature.”

The North American Deer Farmers Association is the nation’s largest

deer farming organization, dedicated to the promotion of raising

whitetail deer, elk and other cervidae species as an agricultural pursuit .

NADeFA provides educational programs and publications and leadership

in establishing ethical standards of husbandry in deer farming and

Constitutional Carry Dead InColoradoMAR 24, 2011 01:42P.M.

Constitutional Carry Dead In Colorado

Senate Dems Kill Landmark Pro-Gun Legislation.

Rocky Mountain Gun Owners

Colorado --(Ammoland.com)- Though not a surprise, yesterday the

Senate State Affairs Committee voted 3-2 to kill HB1205, RMGO’s

Constitutional Carry bill, which was carried by St. Rep. Chris Holbert

and St. Sen. Greg Brophy.

The legislation would have made Colorado a “permit optional” state for

concealed carry, joining Vermont, Alaska, Arizona, and Wyoming.

Despite overwhelming testimony that states with similar laws did not, in

fact, see an increase in violence, Democrat Senators in the State Affairs

Committee (Sens. Rollie Heath, Betty Boyd, and Bob Bacon) voted

against the bill while GOP Sens. Kevin Grantham and Bill Cadman voted

for the legislation.

State Senator Greg Brophy (front) and RMGO Executive Director Dudley

Brown testify in favor of HB1205 on March 23, 2011. Click the image to

watch the testimony.

Senator Greg Brophy told committee members that HB1205 would

simply level the playing field for law-abiding citizen, but criminals really

don’t care what the law says – and don’t seek permits in the first place.

RMGO Executive Director Dudley Brown said that domestic violence

prevention groups should support Constitutional Carry rather than

oppose it, since the permit process itself is intimidating to many females

who don’t want to be on lists and don’t normally think of themselves as

gun advocates but might need the means to self defense in volatile

situations.

“Why should a woman who wants to defend herself from a

stalker or violent ex-boyfriend be forced to acquire an

expensive permit, just for the permission to protect herself?”

said Brown.

Yuma County Sheriff Chad Day, testifying on behalf of himself and Weld

County Sheriff John Cooke, said the Second Amendment is a right.

“Causing people to jump through government hoops turns that right

into a mere privilege.” Sheriff Day cited numerous statistics to show that

more citizens carrying concealed is a good thing for public safety.

Of course, Sheriff Day wasn’t the only law enforcement to speak on the

bill. Boulder County Sheriff Joe Pelle (representing “Republican-In-

Name-Only” Arapahoe Sheriff Grayson Robinson and Adams County

Sheriff Doug Darr) opposed the bill.

Lobbyist Anne Marie Jensen, who represented the Colorado Association

of Chiefs of Police but also normally works for Tom Mauser’s “Colorado

Ceasefire Capitol Fund”, said “Sen. Brophy believes more guns will

make citizens safer. Unfortunately, the Chiefs don’t agree.”

Those advocating for Constitutional Carry should take heart: it took 9

years to pass a “Shall Issue” law in Colorado, and this is a long-term

fight. Just remember these votes in the 2012 elections.

RMGO has fought for Constitutional Carry (often called Vermont) since

the founding of the group. And as the famous movie line goes, We’ll be

back.

Techniques Used to Track Ballistics in Criminal Justice

By Marie Owens

AmmoLand Gun News

Manasquan, NJ --(Ammoland.com)- Likely to be the first exposure

most people had to forensics, the widely televised O.J. Simpson trial not

only piqued public interest in criminal investigation, but its popularity

also convinced many that this technology was ready for “prime time.”

Today, the growth in amateur fascination with forensics has inspired a

variety of dramatic and reality television programs designed to feed this

increasing public appetite. The most positive aspect of increased public

awareness in forensics is that the laypeople that sit on juries during

criminal trials no longer feel like they need to have a criminal justice

degree to comprehend the implications and significance of expert

testimony and evidence.

The technology used to test blood samples found at the murder scene in

the Simpson case, and to identify the DNA of Amanda Knox on the knife

used to kill Meredith Kercher have been standard practice in criminal

investigation since 1985. However, in the early 1990s, the naissance of

bullet cytology introduced advances in the ability to decipher ballistics

evidence. By testing tissue cells found on bullets that pass through a

body examiners can identify which organs were struck and determine

whether a shooting victim’s injury was survivable or fatal, even without

the presence of a body.

The determination of bullet trajectory is an important part of crime

scene investigation and reconstruction. By measuring the angle of entry

of projectiles found lodged in ceilings and walls, forensic examiners can

conclude the location of the shooter when they fired the gun. The older

method of verifying bullet trajectory is to insert a rod into the hole and

the slant by which the rod protrudes from the hole determines angle of

entry. The modern technique to determine trajectory employs laser

beams, which are more accurate and easier to use over long distances.

Similarly, investigators can also use technology to get a better

understanding of whether the bullet ricocheted or not when the shot was

fired. Bullet ricochet regards deviation of bullet trajectory following

contact with an object. If proven a bullet struck the victim as a

consequence of ricochet rather than aim, the shooting is deemed

accidental rather than intentional. When bodies are dumped away from

crime scenes, particles picked up by bullets and transferred to a victim

can tie the murder to a specific location.

During autopsy, the use of entry and exit hole geometry enables forensic

medical examiners to ascertain the position of a victim’s body when

struck by a bullet. Generally, entry wounds are smaller than exit wounds

and increase in size with higher caliber weapons. By comparing entry

and exit wounds to gun caliber, investigators can establish the victim’s

distance and angle from the shooter when the bullet made impact.

The evolving sciences of bullet cytology and trajectory examination are

important forensic techniques through which crime scene investigators

can reconstruct a crime. Combined with forensic technology connecting

a weapon to a particular person, the results of these tests can serve to

confirm or eliminate suspects. However, the most important service

offered by forensic evidence is in the trial stage, providing an attorney

the capacity to not only prove or disprove witness testimony but to

secure convictions for the guilty and exonerate the innocent.

Combat Manufactured comes the new standard in mil-sim realism: the

MCM K1 Marker. Achieving a new height of realism, the K1 Marker is the

first paintball marker to truly emulate the bullpup design found in the

FN Herstal P90 personal defense weapons and the new wave of light,

line with the bore, and a compact presentation with four integral sight

and accessory rails, the MCM K1 Marker puts amazing firepower in a

When you need a little more firepower, switch to the optional 144

paintball magazine. Rotate the selector lever from semi-auto to burst or

full-auto, and avail yourself of the MCM K1′s three combat-ready fire

modes.

To keep the MCM K1 Paintball Gun balanced and truly authentic, an 8

cubic inch air tank is hidden inside the bullpup stock. Good for upwards

of 150 shots before needing a refill, this tank gets you through four

standard magazines or one high-capacity 144 round magazine without

needing to be refilled.

When even that isn’t enough firepower, the MCM K1 Paintball Gun has

you covered with an unobtrusive ASA at the stock’s leading edge. Hook it

into a remote line and accept air straight from the tank on your back…as

you swap out high capacity magazines all day long.

The integral sight rail is ready to accept the red dot sight of your choice,

and comes with an emergency iron sight built in. Attach your choice of

red dot or night vision sight, and then attach flashlights, lasers, paintball

grenade launchers, or other tactical accessories to the other three body

rails. The built-in tactical foregrip is contoured for your support hand to

get a positive grip, with your thumb resting right by that fire mode

selector.

high capacity magazines, from the cutting-edge ergonomics to the

Tippmann-threaded interchangeable barrel, the MCM K1 is ready to take

thigh straps for added stability during extreme body movements. The

shoulder strap has quick-release buckles for an immediate dumping of

the kit if necessary. All three tools feature handle systems that are

Concealed Carry – Its YourRightMAR 24, 2011 11:45A.M.

Concealed Carry – Its Your Right

Wisconsin is Next in Line to Restore the Right of the People to Bear

Arms.

By Larry Pratt

Gun Owners of America

Washington, DC --(Ammoland.com)- America has come a long way

from its 17th century founding. Massachusetts and Virginia had laws

requiring travelers to be armed. In Massachusetts, congregants had to be

armed.

That all changed, though, over the next couple of centuries when states

began imposing massive amounts of gun control. These restrictions

turned countless Americans into mandatory victims, and many innocent

lives were lost as a result.

But now, we are ever so slowly inching our way back to removing the

mountain of prohibitions on being armed in public. Prior to this year,

three states had stopped requiring law-abiding citizens to first get a

permit to carry firearms concealed in public. And now, legislators in

Wyoming have added the Cowboy State to this growing list.

Constitutional carry is the term Gun Owners of America has applied to

carrying firearms without getting prior approval from the government. It

recognizes that the Second Amendment is serious when it says that our

gun rights “shall not be infringed.” We hear statists say that all of our

rights are subject to being balanced by the “interests” of the government.

Such a view would have us forget that “We the People” are the boss, and

the government works for us.

We have the “interests;” but the government has only one

responsibility — to do what it is told.

For the people to be the sovereign — not just in theory, but in fact — we

must be armed. For our employees to tell us how, when and where we

might be armed is a role reversal. A disarmed sovereign is a sovereign

that has suffered a coup d’état.

Constitutional carry is also a recognition that gun control only restricts

the good guys. Criminals are not deterred by gun laws. Criminals are in

the business of breaking laws, and breaking a gun law does not result in a

crisis of conscience for criminals.

It is a huge mistake to think that any of the gun control measures on our

books, or which have been proposed, deter criminals. Consider that in

Mexico, in spite of a constitutional declaration of a right to have guns,

there is only one gun store in the whole country — in Mexico City. If you

manage to get a permit, it will be for a handgun of a fairly ineffective

caliber, or for a limited selection of long guns. Then you can make your

appointment and travel to Mexico City to finally get your gun.

Yet what dominates the news coming out of Mexico?

Guns. And the ones used by the drug traffickers are not usually the ones

available to the American public. But tens of thousands of fully

automatic machine guns have gone missing from the Mexican military.

And, strange as it may seem (sarcasm), the same planes and boats that

are used to smuggle drugs also smuggle firearms.

More civilians were murdered in Juarez last year than civilians in

Afghanistan. Right across the border in El Paso, the murder rate is

enormously lower. Texans own guns, and many of them carry concealed.

So, let’s get a grip on reality. Let’s remove the obstacles that impede the

sovereign from arming himself where he chooses and when he chooses.

It is the constitutional thing to do, after all.

Three Dallas-Area Men Indictedon Federal Firearms ChargesMAR 24, 2011 10:42A.M.

Federal Grand Jury Indicts Three Dallas-Area Men on Federal

Firearms Charges

Defendants Allegedly Made “Straw Purchases” in “Lying and Buying”

to Illegally Acquire Firearms for Others.

Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives

DALLAS, TX --(Ammoland.com)- A federal grand jury in Dallas has

charged three local men with various federal firearms offenses related to

their scheme to illegally acquire firearms they intended to transfer to

others, announced U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks of the Northern District

of Texas.

The three defendants, Ranferi Osorio, 27, and his brother, Otilio Osorio,

22, and Kelvin Leon Morrison, 25, have been in custody since their arrest

on Feb. 28, 2011, by agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco,

Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and other state and local agencies, on

charges in related criminal complaints.

The six-count indictment, returned today, charges each defendant with

one count of conspiracy to acquire a firearm from a licensed dealer by

false or fictitious statement and four substantive counts of that offense.

It also charges Ranferi and Otilio Osorio with one count of possessing a

firearm with an obliterated serial number.

According to the indictment, if a person buys a firearm from someone

else but claims that he or she is the actual transferee/buyer of the listed

firearm(s), the firearm acquisition is called a “straw purchase” and the

conduct is called “lying and buying.” The indictment alleges that

beginning in July 2010 and continuing through at least Nov. 2010, the

defendants made false statements to a licensed dealer to illegally procure

at least 10 firearms, that they intended to transfer to others.

Together they formulated a plan that included selecting the licensed

dealers and the types of firearms to be purchased and acquiring the

firearms from those dealers by making false statements intended to

deceive the firearm dealer.

The indictment also alleges that on Nov. 9, 2010, the Osorio brothers

knowingly possessed 12 Romarm, Model Draco, 7.62×39 caliber pistols

which had the serial numbers obliterated.

An indictment is an accusation by a federal grand jury, and a defendant

is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty.

However, if convicted, each count of acquiring a firearm from a licensed

dealer by making a false or fictitious statement carries a maximum

statutory sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Upon

conviction, the conspiracy count and the possession of a firearm with a

removed or obliterated serial number, each carry a maximum statutory

sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the ATF, DEA, FBI, U.S.

Immigrations and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security

Investigations and the Lancaster, Texas, Police Department. Deputy

Criminal Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney Gary Tromblay is in charge of the

prosecution.

New Tri-Plex Multi-Projectile.38 spl CartridgeMAR 24, 2011 10:36A.M.

Constitution Arms New Tri-Plex Multi-Projectile .38 spl

Constitution Arms Tri-Plex Multi-Projectile .38 spl Cartridge

Palm Pistol

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - -(Ammoland.com)- Constitution Arms has

completed its development of the ultra low recoil Tri-Plex(tm) cartridge.

The round was developed in cooperation with the powder manufacturer

and was subjected to in-house and independent laboratory testing.

The Tri-Plex is a patent pending triple-projectile .38 special standard

load cartridge containing three stacked conical projectiles which at close

range deliver a 158 grain payload that reliably separates and tumbles

upon entering tissue. This provides similar energy transfer and

physiological effect to an expanded semi-wadcutter hollow point (SWC-

HP) bullet, but with significant improvements including a larger ballistic

wound channel, greater hit probability, lower velocity and less recoil.

This makes it ideal for use with the Palm Pistol and other short barreled

self-defense firearms such as snub nosed revolvers and Bond Arms

handguns.

Principle findings, based on testing, were:

1. The Tri-Plex(tm) creates up to 49% larger ballistic wound channel

than a standard load SWC-HP cartridge.

2. The Tri-Plex(tm) creates up to 11% larger ballistic wound channel

than a +P SWC-HP cartridge

3. The Tri-Plex(tm) has a 200% greater hit probability and ballistic

wound channel at 10 feet than an un-expanded single projectile

cartidge.

Detailed test results, including external and terminal ballistics data, can

be viewed at below:

The cartridge will be available for sale mid-April 2011. Advanced orders

can be placed now on the Palm Pistol(r) website at

www.cts.vresp.com/c/?ConstitutionArms/defd9c8841/94aa85caca/41a1313b02.

Quantities will be limited.

Tri-Plex Multi-Projectile 38 Spl Cartridge

About:

The Palm Pistol is an ergonomically innovative single shot double action

only defensive firearm chambered in 9mm that may be fired using either

hand without regard to orientation of the stock. Suited for home defense,

concealed carry or as a backup gun. It is also ideal for seniors, disabled

or others who may have limited strength or manual dexterity. Using the

thumb instead of the index finger for firing, it significantly reduces

muzzle drift, one of the principal causes of inaccurate targeting. Point

and shoot couldn’t be easier. Visit: www.palmpistol.com
