Welcome To Annunciation Parish!
Uniting The Catholic Community of Newington
Established June 29, 2017
If you are new to our parish or if you have been away from the practice of the faith, we extend a warm
welcome and hope you feel at home here. Our parish is nourished by your presence today. We invite you to
introduce yourself to the priest or deacon after Mass so that we can greet you. We hope you will make Annunciation
Parish YOUR parish.
All children are welcome to be baptized in the Catholic Church. It does not matter if the parents are single or
married outside the Catholic Church. ALL CHILDREN no matter what, are welcome to the baptism of the Lord, as
long as they will be raised Catholic. Annunciation Parish usually offers baptisms on the first and third Sundays. To
get started, please call the parish office - Saint Mary (860-666-1591) or Holy Spirit (860-666-5671). We can’t wait
to welcome your child into the life of Christ and our Church through Baptism.

Readings and Reflections for April 29th, 2018
First Reading: Acts 9:26-31 Saul, soon to be “Paul,” comes to Jerusalem only to be confronted by angry traditionalist believers. It seems that peace came to the Palestinian churches with Saul, the former persecutor, gone.
Second Reading: I John 3:18-24 God, being “greater than our hearts,” knows our inmost selves. We can have confidence in His mercy by keeping His commandments, believing in Jesus while we practice love of one another.
Gospel: John 15:1-8
We learned from the Good Shepherd symbol last week that God would
prevent any of Jesus’ sheep from being lost. Here Jesus as the Vine and
we as the branches teaches us the importance of being connected to
Christ.
Daly Notes…
Hundreds of hours of work, and the
donation of many items, helped to make this
year’s Comedy Night a huge success. It was
wonderful to see people from both churches
come together. We raised more than $11,000,
but more importantly everyone had a terrific
time. People are still talking about it!
A big thank you to the Men’s Club and all
who helped. Once again it shows that when
everyone pitches in and offers what they can
wonderful things happen. We are also grateful
to many businesses and individuals who
donated items for the raffles. We promise an
even better time next year!

More Daly Notes!
Our Religious Education program for the year 2017-2018 came to a close
recently. We had another successful year with close to 700 students attending
classes this year. We recently celebrated Confirmation with Archbishop Mansell and
First Communion at both churches for many of our students. All of this would not be
possible without the help of so many dedicated people.
I am grateful to all who made this year so wonderful. A very special thank you to
all our catechists who give of their time, talents and treasures so generously. Their
commitment is extraordinary as they share their Sundays to teach our children the
Catholic faith. I am also grateful to the parents of our young people for their
commitment to the program. Finally, I am very grateful to Sue Skipp and Terri
Hermann for their leadership and guidance.

As lectors, we are not just
reading the scriptures but are
proclaiming the Word of God, and we
