ONE BOOK ~ ONE SCHOOL The 6th and 7th grades read Counting by 7's forOne Book One School. The book is a New YorkTimes best seller by Holly Goldberg Sloan that

deals with themes of friendship, loss and diversity. The students meet weekly on Mondays for 4 weeks, during which we discussed plot and theme and readsections and passages (and had snacks). Our finalactivity involved small groups (mixed 6/7) making alife sized silhouette of the character they found most

intriguing. Then, they used character traits todescribe their character ...and supplied quotations

to support their choices. We had some greatdiscussions!
