adopted the Common Core State

Standards, establishing a roadmap and

clear expectations of learning for

students, teachers, and parents.


IMPROVING EDUCATION IN THE U.S.

Thanks to better seeds for farmers, new

drugs, and greater access to vaccines

for children, the percentage of people

living in extreme poverty has dropped

by half since 1990.


ENDING EXTREME POVERTY

A combination of vaccines, malaria

prevention, and improved healthcare for

newborns helped reduce child mortality

by more than 55 percent between 1990

and 2012.


SAVING CHILDREN’S LIVES

The global effort to eradicate polio has

cut the number of reported cases

worldwide from 360,000 in 1988 to 362

in 2012.

Over the last 50 years, better seeds and
