From the Pastor

Peace be with you. Last week we sent an email to all on our mailing list explaining that we are assis ng the CTC (Community Tracing Collabora ve connected with the Massachuse s Department of Public Health) with their contact tracing in North Reading of those who have/had COVID-19 or have been close contacts with posi ve cases. The email asked that anyone who has been to Mass beginning the weekend of December 12-13, or any Mass or service therea er, and who within 14 days of a ending subsequently had someone in their household come down with COVID-19, to let us know. This is not because we know of any link between our parish and COVID-19 hotspots (in fact, we do not currently know of a linkage), but simply to assist them in their work to keep North Reading safe. If this applies to you or if you did not receive the email, please contact us at info@s heresanreading.org or call the office (978 )664-3412. Going forward, if you a end Mass (including daily Mass), Adora on, or Faith Forma on, and someone in your household tests posi ve for COVID-19 within fourteen days of a ending, please let us know as soon as possible what service(s) you a ended. We will inform the North Reading Board of Health and our parishioners as we try to keep each other safe. Also, if you did not get the email, I do hope you will let us know so we can add you to our email list. We typically send out an email to our parishioners every Friday and whenever there is something important to inform them about. The Friday email also has links to our bulle n and our special events. In the Archdiocese, 90% of all parishes are now in Red Zones so this is clearly a very cri cal me in the pandemic. We believe we are safe with all our protocols we have in place here, but we want to assist the CTC in their cri cal work so that we con nue to remain as safe as possible. We know that our parishioners are gradually returning to Mass, but we want you all to remain vigilant and stay home if you are vulnerable or are feeling sick in anyway. We are very blessed to have the Mass live streamed and that may be the be er choice for some of you. Remember, Cardinal Seán O’Malley has suspended the obliga on of a ending Mass during this pandemic. Fr. Reilly, Mary Ann Thomas, and I are always willing to set up a me to give you Holy Communion in the parking lot. I am so grateful to all the volunteers and our staff for the great care that is being taken here at Saint Theresa Parish. We are func oning safely, and we remain vigilant and adap ve to whatever informa on comes our way. Blessings on you and your families, Bishop Mark

V C is a special crucifix that travels from family to family to inspire prayers for voca ons to the Priesthood and to the Religious Life. We have suspended the ministry for the me being. We ask everyone to

please pray for voca ons to the Priesthood and to the Religious Life.

Please pray for the repose of the soul of

Prayer for Voca ons to the Religious Life

Our Father, you call some of your children to band together in community for the public service of your Church and to live the life of voluntary poverty, chas ty and obedience. You need them to remind all of us of our eternal life with you, to show us the goodness of living together in love, and to do special work in your Church. May this witness be strong and inspiring. Give many men and women the grace to follow this path in generous sharing, open love for all and faithful service of your Church, for your honor and glory. Amen

Confession When it is cold, rainy or snowing outside, we will bring our weekly Confessions indoors on Saturdays from 2-3 PM.

We have been doing Confessions in the back-parking lot and they have been well received. If you don’t see Father Tom or

Bishop Mark si ng outside behind the rectory, it means we moved Confession to the hall. We will open the side door to the foyer of the hall (the door on the big parking lot side.) Please come in and wait in the foyer for your turn.

Please know, you can always call and make an appointment for Confession with either Fr. Reilly or Bishop Mark.

RESPECT LIFE “Take this and eat; this is My Body.”

Ma hew 26:26

Reflec on: Supporters of abor on say, “This is my body, I can do what I want.” Jesus says, “This is My Body, given up for you.” The same words are spoken from opposite ends of the

universe with totally opposite results. Let us resolve to live those words as Jesus did, giving ourselves away for the good of others, born and unborn. Prayer: Lord, thank You for my body, my life, and my freedom. May all of us understand the purpose of these gi s: to freely give ourselves away in love just as You did. Please pray to end the scourge of abor on. We are asking parishioners to pray the Rosary from home for the sanc ty of all Human Life, from concep on to natural death. Our Blessed Mother Mary has said that the one true weapon against all evil, especially abor on, is the Rosary.

Thank you for your prayers. St. Theresa’s Pro Life Commi ee

Nine Days For Life

On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court legalized abor on throughout the United States in its companion decisions Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton.

Since that me, millions of children have lost their lives, and millions of women and families have been wounded by abor on. The General Instruc on of the Roman Missal (GIRM), no. 373, designates January 22 as a par cular day of prayer and penance, called the “Day of Prayer for the Legal Protec on of Unborn Children.”

Sign up at 9daysforlife.com so you will automa cally receive the novena when it begins!

Word of Life

January 17: “There is such a wide spectrum of issues involving the protec on of human life and the promo on of human dignity. Good people frequently disagree on which problems to address, which policies to adopt and how best to apply them. But for ci zens and elected officials alike, the basic principle is simple: We must begin with a commitment never to inten onally kill, or collude in the killing, of any innocent human life, no ma er how broken, unformed, disabled or desperate that life may seem. In other words, the choice of certain ways of ac ng is always and radically incompa ble with the love of God and the dignity of the human person created in His image.” United States Conference of Catholic Bishops “Living the Gospel of Life,” © 1998 USCCB.

WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY JANUARY 18–25, 2021

Abide in My Love…You Shall Bear Much Fruit (cf. John 15:1-17)

The Church Unity Octave, a forerunner of the Week of Prayer for Chris an Unity, was developed by Servant of God Father Paul Wa son, SA, at Graymoor in Garrison, New York, and was first observed at Graymoor from January 18-25, 1908. Today, the Week of Prayer for Chris an Unity invites the whole Chris an community throughout the world to pray in communion with the prayer of Jesus “that they all may be one” (John 17:21).

In 1966, the Faith and Order Commission of the World Council of Churches and the Va can Secretariat (now Council) for Promo ng Chris an Unity began collabora ng as a common interna onal text for worldwide usage. Since 1968 these interna onal texts, which are based on themes proposed by ecumenical groups

around the world, have been developed, adapted and published for use in the United States by the Graymoor Ecumenical & Interreligious Ins tute.

This year’s annual Week of Prayer for Chris an Unity begins in a li le over a week on Monday, January 18 and concludes Monday, January 25. Let us join other Chris an churches around the world as we remember the 2021 theme, “Abide in my love… you shall bear much fruit.” (John 15:1-17)

Visit h ps://geii.org/ to find virtual events to par cipate in or for more informa on. Or, pray to Pray of Chris an Unity (right) with fellow Chris ans around the world.
