Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Introduction to the Liturgy of the Day

We come together each Sunday a needy people, a

damaged people, a human people, each of us coming

to realize that we cannot make it on our own. But we

are a faith-filled people, trusting in the Lord, our Sav-

ior, our Redeemer, whom we know is here with us as

we gather together. Buoyed by that knowledge, we

celebrate the Eucharist today with our sisters and

brothers, giving thanks to God, receiving our Lord in

his Body and Blood, and going forth to others renewed

and rejuvenated in our mission as disciples.

Cada domingo nos reunimos como pueblo necesitado,

pueblo menoscabado, en otras palabras, pueblo hu-

mano, y cada uno de nosotros llegamos a darnos

cuenta de que solos no podemos realizarnos. Pero so-

mos personas de mucha fe, y confiamos en el Señor,

nuestro Salvador y Redentor que sabemos está aquí

con nosotros, ahóra juntos para esta celebración. Ese

conocimiento nos mantiene a flote y nos dispone a

celebrar la Eucaristía de hoy con nuestros hermanos y

hermanas, dando gracias a Dios por poder recibir su

cuerpo y su sangre, para después salir renovados y re-

Introduction to the Liturgy of the Word

In ten days Lent will begin and we will be reminded of

Jesus’ sufferings, from forty days in the desert to his

passion and death, but today we hear Job lamenting the

tragedies that have come to define his life. His suffer-

ings are, to him, incomprehensible. He has lost all

hope. None of us suffer as greatly as Job, but we have

reason to hope. The psalmist reassures us that the Lord

heals the wounded and brokenhearted. Paul willingly

embraces his difficulties for the gospel. Jesus places

the healing of the sick and troubled at the heart of his

ministry. As we listen to today’s readings, let us look

for hope in the Lord.

Introducción a la Liturgia de la Palabra

En diez días comenzará la Cuaresma y recordaremos

los sufrimientos de Jesús desde sus cuarenta días en el

desierto hasta su pasión y muerte; pero hoy oímos el

lamento de Job por las tragedias que han llegado a de-

finer su vida. Para él sus sufrimientos son incompren-

sibles. Ha perdido todas las esperanzas. Ninguno de

nosotros sufre tanto como Job, pero tenemos razón para

la esperanza. El salmista nos asegura que el Señor cura

nuestras heridas y nuestro corazón quebrantado. Pablo

acepta buenamente sus dificultades por el Evangelio.

Jesús pone al mero centro de su ministerio la curación

de los enfermos y afligidos. Al escuchar las lecturas de

hoy, busquemos nuestra esperanza en el Señor.

RECEPTION OF HOLY COMMUNION

The safety of all is our utmost concern. Because of

this, we are not tired of reminding everyone to observe

the safety guidelines. We strongly ask everyone to

receive Holy Communion in the hand and must leave

their mask on when approaching the priest; after re-

ceiving the Sacred Host, move to the side, lower the

mask and consume the Sacred Host, then put back the

mask and return to your seat.
