    Digital Signal from the Sensor

    for Unsurpassed Noise Immunity

Mercury II provides digital signals directly from the sensorto the interpolator. Other encoders output an analogsignal to the interpolator that is susceptible to PWM noiseand EMI/RFI interference.

    One Sensor: Tape or Glass,

    Linear or Rotary Scales

The Mercury II sensor works withmetal tape or glass scales in linear androtary applications. Nothing else gives you thisflexibility. Mercury II will reduce design time, manufacturing, and field support costs.

setup of the sensor, index, and limits, combined with built-inLEDs for setup and status, eliminates oscilloscopes ,and

    setup modules.

SmartPrecision II SoftwareGives YouProgrammablePerformance andRemote EthernetConnectivityThe optional SmartPrecisionII Software works in concert

with the SmartPrecision II interpolator electronics, allowing encoder setup and diagnostics using

programmable features, data plots, and real-time indicators.

It adds Ethernet connectivityfor secure remote monitoringand control via an Internetconnection, and it allowsusers to view and controlall parameters remotely even from multiplelocations, simultaneously.

PurePrecision Laser Tape, the Next Generation Tape ScalePurePrecision laser tape is the easiest tape to installand use. Cut it to any length you need; adhesivebacking and our unique application tool make installa-tion fast and accurate. The tape is available in reelsup to 50 meters in length, or you can order pre-cutlengths if you prefer. PurePrecisionlaser tape is an easy way to

reduce both manufacturingcosts and longlead times.

    The Only Stick-On

    Optical Index and Limits

Cut-to-length tape scales require anadjustable index. Hall sensors are too

large and too hard to install. Mercury IIsolves this problem with the first and onlystick-on optical index and limits. Place themarkers along the tape scale for unmatchedflexibility, or use them with glass scales forrapid prototyping. The in-track bi-directionaloptical index provides 1LSB repeatability, and operates at all encoder speeds.Separate fail-safe left and right opticallimits also enhance motion system safetyand reduce cabling.
