WhY GO TO DaiLY Mass? One of the amazing things about christianity is that every day can be a new day, every hour can be a new beginning, at any moment, we can decide to turn back to God and start over.

if we need to go to confession, our sins will be forgiven and we start anew, in a state of grace, in full communion with God. Does our prayer life need improvement? start now – pray.

We are again celebrating Mass live – thank God – but it appears it will be a while before we get back to pre-cOViD normal. Nevertheless, with this new beginning, we have taken the opportunity to introduce a new daily Mass schedule, with the hope that it will allow more parishioners the opportunity to partake in this gift.

Note that the biggest change is the addition of three english Masses at 7:15 a.m. – Tuesday, Wednesday and friday.

Why attend Daily Mass? There are a lot of reasons. But the most important has to be that, as the church teaches us, the eucharist is the source and the summit of the christian life (ccc 1324). it is the source of our life – all other sacraments are “bound up with the eucharist.”

it is the summit – while on this earth, every time we attend Mass and partake in the eucharist, we reach the highpoint of our christian life.

if you have not traditionally attended daily Mass, consider starting something new. catholic evangelist and writer Matthew kelly offers what he calls a life-changing challenge: for just one week, try going to daily Mass every day, and see what happens.

Why not? as author and chastity speaker Jason evert says, there’s literally nothing better to do.

-Dan Diepenbrock

“O God our creator… through the power and working of your Holy Spirit, you call us to live out our faith in the midst of the world, bringing the light and the saving truth of the Gospel to every corner of society.”

PARISH NEWS & EVENTSTo Mask or Not to Mask …

The wearing of a face mask or face covering (bandana, scarf, etc.) is strongly encouragedduring this coronavirus pandemic. This is an act of charity, compassion, justice, andhumility. The virus can be transmitted (at times, the person may not know he/she hasthe disease), and virus can be received. Masks reduce the chance of transmitting or receiving coronavirus. A priest, deacon, or EMC is required to wear a mask when he/she is distributing communion.

The CDC points out that some should not wear a mask: “children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance.”

We should not judge a person because he/she is not wearing a mask in public. Forexample, some may have decreased lung capacity (like Pope Francis), others may sufferfrom claustrophobia (like my dad did). We ask the intercession of St. Bernardine ofSienna, patron saint of lungs and respiratory problems, who cared for the ill during theplague around the year 1400.
