Presbyterian Hospital has
implemented a change to the
route that patients will now
be taken from the ED
directly to Labor &
Delivery on the hospital’s
8th floor.
To follow the new route,
please take the hallway
through the Emergency
Department as is the current
practice. Turn right and take
the “E” elevators to the 7th
Floor.
Upon arriving on the 7th floor,
take the hallway through 7C –
Women’s via the route
indicated on the adjacent map
to access the same elevator
that is used today to reach
the 8th floor L&D. This route
on the 7th floor is parallel to
the route that you currently
take on the ground floor.
This new route also passes
through a treatment area
specializing in women’s care.
Nursing personnel on this
floor can assist with any
emergency you may
encounter while transporting
the patient to Labor &
Delivery via the 7th floor.
If you are unsure how to
correctly access Labor &
Delivery via this new route, please request an escort when you arrive in the Emergency Department.
If you have any questions, please contact Deputy Director Kevin Staley at [email protected].

As mentioned in October’s InService on AIDET and
effective communication, business cards are an
extremely useful tool when communicating with our
patients and customers. Starting in December, all Medic
business card orders will have several helpful design
features in place to assist employees in the AIDET
process.
The new Medic business cards have been developed to
assist employees in their interactions with patients by
providing tools to help field some of the most
frequently asked questions while simultaneously
administering excellent patient care.
New Medic Logo
The new Medic logo including the tagline, “Medical
Excellence. Compassionate Care.” will replace the old
logo as the Agency looks to reinforce the level of pre-
hospital care and our commitment to a positive patient
experience in the community.
Mecklenburg EMS Agency
Mecklenburg EMS Agency will still be visible on the
lower front side of new Medic business cards as a way
of helping patients and others identify Medic as a county agency and the geographic area that we serve.
**New—Backside of Medic Business Cards**
A web link on the back of the new Medic business
cards has been designed to help employees direct
patients who would like more information on:
Medic’s billing rates
Health information
To provide feedback or comments
The PR department will provide further information
and specific examples and answer any questions on
ways to use the new Medic business cards during a
future InService session.
Please contact Nikkie Perry at [email protected]
or Kristin Young at [email protected] if you have any questions about the new Medic business. Please contact
Nikkie Perry at [email protected] if you need to place a order for new business cards.

Last Wednesday, Medic’s ePCR software was upgraded to
version 3.8.4. The transition was seamless with only a few
bumps along the way (recalibration and a few printing issues).
Our Medic team worked extremely well together to get this
huge task accomplished. A big thank you to A-Shift night
crews, Operations Assistant Melaine Varnadore, CMED and
Operations Supervisors for making sure tickets were
finalized in a timely fashion and to Operations Assistant
Kathy Paino for the cleanup and follow up to make sure all
tickets were accounted for.
All hands were on deck from IT to make sure the upgrade
went smoothly. All new tablets were deployed to Medic’s
entire fleet, including Mint Hill and Airport units.
The majority of the changes will be transparent to the end-
user but there will be huge benefits on the backend to
support the software. As mentioned, minor issues may show
up, however, they will be addressed as soon as they are
identified. Therefore, please report any and all errors to
IT promptly. Thank you again to everyone involved.
