The following were written by the children who used

their envelopes this week (18 envelopes were received

children wrote them:

Thank you, children, for sharing these with us. God Bless you!! Father Ireland

From the Pastor’s Desk

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I was pleased to see that some of our children accepted my

invitation to dress up as their favorite or patron saint for the

celebration of All Saints Day at the Masses last weekend.

They certainly were cute as they processed into Church at

the beginning of the Mass. Thanks go out to parents and/or

older brothers and sisters who helped them with their

costumes.

Congratulations to the 7th Grade Girls Volleyball team

who claimed the Runner-up title for the City; but, more

importantly, they were recipients of the 2015 CYO

Sportsmansip Award.

Our team was made up of 6 girls from Sacred Heart of

Jesus Academy, 1 girl from the Lyceum, l girl from Saint

Clare Parish, and 2 girls from Saint Francis of Assisi

Parish. They were chosen from among their peers who said

of them that they gave witness to the importance of team

spirit, a mutual respect for the rules of the sport and the

need to work together. They exhibited an eagerness to win

and a grace in losing. Their coaches, too, were great

examples of Christian values that far surpassed the ability

to bring to the Championship a team with fine-tuned skills.

We are proud of the way you represented yourselves and

your parish. EACH OF YOU IS A WINNER!!!

Within the last couple of weeks, we have received notice

from the Diocese that our 2014-2015 Financial Report has

been accepted. Please note that the Report is inserted into

today’s bulletin. I encourage you to read it carefully, for

the words sometimes give a better picture of our overall

vibrancy than the numbers do. If there are questions or a

need for clarification of any part of this document, please

call Tony Flowers (216.382.7601). He will be able to

provide you with the information you need to understand

the report as it is presented.

May God’s blessings be yours this week. Father Ireland

PROFESSOR OF MORAL THEOLOGY AT

ON MEDICAL & MORAL ISSUES AT THE END

OF LIFE

The picture is of the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran. The

Basilica is the cathedral of Rome. This is not St. Peter's, but it is

the Pope's Cathedral. Also called the Church of the Holy Savior

or the Church of St. John the Baptist and St. John the Evangelist,

it was the baptism church of ancient Rome. It was built in the

time of Constantine and was consecrated by Pope Sylvester in

324.

On November 9 the Church celebrates the dedication of the

Basilica of St. John Lateran. This feast became a universal

celebration in honor of the basilica called "the mother and

mistress of all churches of Rome and the world" (omnium urbis et

orbis ecclesiarum mater et caput) as a sign of love for and union

with the See of Peter.

Dear Sacred Heart of Jesus Parishioners and Academy Families

This week our Academy students have two

days off from school. Our teachers will attend the Ohio

Catholic Education Association Convention in downtown

Cleveland on Thursday and Friday, November 12 and 13.

Many Catholic school teachers and administrators from

various parts of the State will be in Cleveland for this

Covention.

Many of our students have shown great success this First

Quarter. Many earned Honors, and we applaud their

efforts. Several students earned extra awards as Most

Improved students. They will receive a McDonald’s lunch

this week. Other students earned HEART Awards for their

exceptional behavior and respect for others. We are proud

of all our students.

Parents of eighth graders are invited to attend an important

Confirmation meeting with Fr. Ireland on Wednesday, the

11th, at 7 o’clock in the St. Margaret Mary Meeting Room

in the basement of the Rectory. This is the initial step for

the students as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of

Confirmation. Keep them in your prayers.

Grade 5 will be on a walking field trip to the new Public

Library located across from Notre Dame College. They

will have a tour of the new facility and be given an

instructional Science class.

for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Thessalonians 5:18
