EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD MARCH 27, 2016

PASTOR’S CORNERDear Parishioners:

On behalf of the clergy and staff of St. Andrew parish, I want to wish all of you a blessed and joyous Easter!

The Feast of Easter celebrates the central mystery of our faith, the Resurrection of Jesus Christ our savior from the dead. He has conquered sin and death by means of His own death and Resurrection, and He promises that those who believe in Him and die to sin and their old way of life in Baptism will rise to New Life with Him and in Him. Easter also celebrates the renewal of our Baptism. This is why we renew our baptismal promises at the Mass on Easter and are sprinkled with Holy Water from the baptismal font. We renew our promises in which we rejected sin and Satan and profess our faith in the Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We no longer live a merely earthly or worldly life, but a life of faith, because Christ lives in us. We no longer fix our desires on passing things, but have our eyes fixed on heavenly realms where Christ dwells. My prayer for all of you is that the knowledge of Christ’s victory over death may give you joy and courage each and every day, and that you will remain firm in your conviction of the faith you have professed, full of hope and rich in charity.

I want to especially congratulate all those who became members of the Catholic Church at Easter through the profession of faith and the Sacraments of Initiation. We welcome and embrace you as fellow believers and disciples of Jesus, and as brothers and sisters in Christ.

The Lord is Risen! Alleluia! He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

Your pastor,Msgr. Stephan Moloney

EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD MARCH 27, 2016

Another great year for the St. Andrew Fish Fry

The St. Andrew Parish has put a close to another successful fish fry thanks to the many wonderful volunteers. I have gotten to know more and more of our volunteers and it’s not hard to tell that they love to share their time and talent each year and look forward to the next. A lot of work goes into each of the six fish fries. This year, more than any, we have asked for more parishioners to assist during the week and each time there was someone to step up and fill that need. It’s good to know we have people who can and are willing to give up their personal time for the good of the parish and their community. You all have my gratitude, respect and many, many thanks!

I have been told that our fry is more of a family event, in that we have many families that gather here as a whole to break bread with each other and others in the community. In a time that more and more families aren’t sharing meals together due to the fast pace of their lives, it warms my heart to know at least a couple of weeks out of the year St. Andrew Parish provides a place and time for them to come together as one whole family and enjoy that time. It probably doesn’t hurt that we have one of the best fish dinners in the area either, not that I am biased or anything.

A special thanks goes to our new product delivery manager and master potato prep manager, Paul Breen, and his staff and our new fish prep manager, Caroline Rasico, and her staff. Let’s not forget the staff that runs the best fish fry in the area, Liz Carpenter, Jane Dickson, John Joffre, Gary Pandora, Jeff Slater, Debbie Rasico, Danielle Rasico, Caroline Rasico, Katie Rasico, and Ryan (honorary Rasico), Maria Trinidad, and Barb Zimmerman who bring it all together through their hard work and many, many hours of their personal time.

I would also like to thank the talents of Tony Joseph on piano, Al Hamrick and team for our dining table setup and ensuring our equipment is well maintained and running properly and Patti Beattie for ordering the food, supplies, and allowing us to hijack the cafeteria kitchen each week.

Those of you who volunteer at one event or another soon realize that you see the same people working those events. I’m reaching out to those of you who are thinking of volunteering but are afraid you may not have the time. The great thing about volunteering for the church is that you aren’t judged on the times you are unable to make it to an event. Please consider volunteering even if it is just one thing at a time. You might find that it is much easier than you thought it would be. Without you, we would not have an event to hold.

That being said, we are looking for some new staff members to head up the fish fry. If you know of a person or group that would be interested in some hard but rewarding work during the Lenten season, please contact Tom Rasico at 614-282-7346. Experience is not necessary; you will be well trained prior to taking the reins.

Thank you and God Bless you all! Tom Rasico

MARCH VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTHThe Parish Council continues recognizing parishioners

who are actively involved in the parish community by selecting Raygan Barrett! Although Raygan only became a full member of our faith community in 2014, she has been attending and volunteering at St. Andrew since 2006. Raygen is married to life-long parishioner and St. Andrew alum, Mike Barrett. They have two children, Jimmy and MacKenna, who attend St. Andrew School.

Like many working moms, Raygan admits it is hard to find time to volunteer, as she runs her own business and seldom has time off. In August of 2015, she opened an art studio in Upper Arlington called Picassos. With this experience, as well as her background in design, Raygan uses her talents and more to market organizations and events in the parish such as the Shamrock Shindig, St. Andrew Preschool, Caps and Corks, Women’s Club Fashion Show and the SPICE board. She donates resources to the Parish Festival and the Women’s Club Secret Santa. As a St. Andrew School parent, Raygen helps with the Home and School Association and volunteering in her children’s classrooms. She takes part in Parents in Prayer, a group that meets every Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. to pray the Rosary. She encourages any parent to come and join her!

Raygen also has used her personal conversion story to the Catholic faith to motivate, educate and encourage parish youth to share and embrace their faith. Volunteering in the parish is an important thing for Raygan to do because she wants her kids to see that she does things for the community. Though sometimes it is hard to keep on top of things, Raygan says that helping to further the mission of SPICE, add excitement to an event and being an active part of the St. Andrew community makes it all worth it.

I would also like to thank the talents of Tony Joseph on piano, Al Hamrick and team for our dining table set up and ensuring our equipment is well maintained and running properly and Patti Beattie for ordering the food, supplies, and allowing us to hijack the cafeteria kitchen each week.

Tom Rasico

MARCH VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH The Parish Council continues recognizing parishioners who are actively involved in the parish community by selecting Raygan Barrett!
